KRISTJAN FRIDRIK PETERSON July 25, 1930 - April 18, 2014 It is with great sorrow and sadness that on Good Friday, April 18, 2014 Kris passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born in Baldur, Manitoba he is survived by his beloved wife Mary (Connie), precious children Ashley (Sharon), Debbie (Paul); sister Betty Bjornson of Duncan BC and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Kris joined the Winnipeg Fire Department in 1953 and during his 36 year career he showed dedication and service to all the citizens of Winnipeg, retiring at the Rank of District Chief in July 1989. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 867. Kris was a kind, upright and quiet man, with an understated strength that was demonstrated through his devotion, support and generosity to his family. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Concordia Hospital, Doctor's, nurses and homecare workers for their compassionate care given Kris during his illness, we also extend your thanks to Chaplain Mark and the Fire Paramedics. As per his wishes, an immediate cremation will follow, with interment at a later date.
