HELEN WIEBE (FRIESEN) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, at the age of 77 years. Always kind, always thoughtful, always faithful, forgiving, and patient, she lived her life by Christ's values, and served as a reminder to live a good life. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, in 1937, to Susanna and Cornelius Friesen, her family immigrated to Canada in 1952. At 17 she married Jacob Wiebe, and they lived in many towns in southern Manitoba, finally settling in Winnipeg. She is survived by her children: Jacob, Cornelius, David (Susan), Linda, Katherine (Tom), Deborah (Brian), Peter (Cara) and Brenda, her ten grandchildren, and one great-grandson, all of whom she loved deeply. One of Helen's greatest abilities was appreciating God's handiwork, pausing to call attention to the features in a blooming flower, the joyful exaltations of a bird in song or the ever changing canvas of sky at sunset, her favourite time of day. She reveled in the beauty of her surroundings. Helen left this life for the next April 17, 2014, and will be deeply missed. A service will be held Monday, April 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba. A private reception to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined.
