ALMA E. MCCARVILL Our mother, our best friend, our nana and our great-nana, Alma Evelyn McCarvill (Duncan) peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her husband Mac (Edgar) McCarvill, her parents, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her children, Wendi (Brad) Sterling, Sandy Marcou, Cindy (Keith) Rosger, Rick (Jane) McCarvill, Mike (Peggy) McCarvill; grandchildren David (Mary) Thorne, Tracey (Steve) Thorne, Jana (Russ) Arnason, Devin (Mindy) Rosger, Ashley Kennedy, Mandy Sheppard, Claire, Lily and Mary McCarvill and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters Ivy, Joan and Bertha; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. From her life growing up on the family farm in Deleau, Manitoba, attending hairdressing school in Brandon and on to joining the RCAF, she made lifelong friends along the way. It was during her career with the RCAF that she met dad, fell in love and began raising a family while stationed both in Canada and England. Mom was the "rock" of our family, our fiercest protector, our biggest supporter and our loudest cheerleader in all that we did or attempted through life, loving each of us unconditionally. Although her declining health in the last few years presented her with many challenges, her fighting spirit and sense of humor was not lost to anyone who came in contact with her. Mom is finally re-united with the true love of her life, our dad Mac who she missed more than words could express these last 30 years. Mom, give him a big hug from all of us. We miss you both. Be at peace. To the staff of Grace General Hospital PCU and Deer Lodge Geri-ReHab, we thank you for the kind and compassionate care you gave our mother during her stays. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
