Rick, Terry, Shannon, Scott and Jeffrey. We had a lovely summer Gimli 2012 visit with Wanda and Rick - ever the gracious hostess and host. Caitrin wishes to send her cousin Dani an extra hug. I will celebrate Wanda's life with a little shopping! Sending love your way ... jennifer - Posted by: Johnston Edwards Family - Don, Jennifer, Stuart, Trevor, Benjamin, Caitrin (Family) on: May 08, 2014

I knew Wanda through our work with Clarica. There was no one more encouraging or positive around me in my early days as an advisor than Wanda. Her smile and belief in me made such a difference. I am so sorry to hear that she lost her battle. I know that the fight was long and hard. Wanda please rest in peace. You will be greatly missed by your dear family and friends. God bless you. - Posted by: Paula MacMillan (colleague) on: May 08, 2014

It seems like yesterday when John, Rita and Wanda attended John Taylor Collegiate and Wanda was the one who was the match maker for us. Wanda stood up at our wedding and remained such a great friend all through the years- she was always doing some kind deed for others. Although it is so unfair to imagine you going through any more suffering, we just cannot imagine life without her. All the times she laughed, gave great advice or just listened intently will always be remembered - with Erin and Ryan too. She was so good at everything she did. Grief cannot take away all the good times we shared whether at the beach, out golfing or visiting. Those memories will last and her legacy will live on. There is so much more we should have said that last day we were together. Love From, Rita, John, Erin and Ryan - Posted by: Rita, John, Erin, and Ryan Eyer (Friends) on: May 01, 2014

John & I are so sorry to hear of Wanda's passing. We both met Wanda when we started with The Mutual Group/Clarica/Sun Life. She was a wonderful manager and an even better person. There are no words that can express the loss of such a good, strong and terrific lady. We feel fortunate to have known her. To Rick, Shannon and the grandchildren, our heartfelt condolences. I know she will be greatly missed here on earth but she will never be too far away from our hearts. - Posted by: Connie Jensen & John Gould (Friend) on: Apr 29, 2014

Fond memories of our family visits to Winnipeg as youngsters. Loved going to the lake but hated the outhouse and fighting off those annoying bugs. Our visits, emails and phone calls were few and far between but we always had a great time catching up with all that was going on with our families. My family and I send our heartfelt condolences to Rick, Shannon, Scott and Jeff and to Auntie Terry, Pat, Diane, John and their families. I will treasure the memories. Wanda will not be forgotten. Love always Roxy - Posted by: Roxy Abernethy (cousin) on: Apr 28, 2014

From the Petz family, our sincerest condolences. Wanda was a great lady, she always had a warm smile. As far apart as we all are right now, Brendan (who's in Gagetown) phoned Kirsten to let her know Wanda had passed, Kirsten phoned me. My aunt had already phoned me to let me know so I went to tell Beth. It is still a small neighbourhood! Take care, Lauren, Kirsten, Brendan and Beth - Posted by: Lauren Sadler (nee Petz) (Neighbour) on: Apr 28, 2014

Shannon, So sorry to hear about your mom. It's been years since we've talked or seen each other. When we were young we never thought about losing a parent. Now it's hard to believe that we've both had to say goodbye to one of our parents. I want to say it gets easier but truth is you learn to deal. Your mom was a beautiful woman. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your brothers and Rick. May family, love and memories comfort you. - Posted by: Scelena Hyland (Robinson) (Friend and old neighbor) on: Apr 28, 2014

We first met Wanda in 2002 when Sunlife and Clarica were about to merge. Wanda was a Sales Manager at Clarica and she opened her heart to the Sunlife Advisors who were entering a new world! This was a huge adjustment for many of us so Wanda did everything that she could to help us with the transition and make us feel welcome. Her smile, warmth and kindness lit up any room. I still remember how hard it was for Wanda to tell us about the news of her dear friend Nancy, who had cancer. Wanda stayed strong and positive even though we knew that this news was very hard on her. It was less than a few years later that Wanda, herself got cancer. She took this in stride as well and stayed strong. Wanda was a beautiful person and was blessed to have a beautiful person walk by her side, her husband, Rick. We know that it will take time to fill the void and heal. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time ! There is never a good time to say good bye, the only comfort is knowing that we will be together again. May God Bless! While we journeyed through life on different paths, those paths often crossed ~ from our 1st meeting as we worked together at Zeller's County Fair in'69 to living in Thompson and Winnipeg at the various times; Wanda was involved at pivotal moments in my life ~ her Mum and Dad moving us to Thompson in '71; standing up for me at my wedding in '72; availing her home for extended family arriving for my husband's funeral in '79 ~ Wanda was there. Re-connecting in Winnipeg we, with our daughters, re-connected now and again. Watching Rick and Wanda's relationship blossom :), to the arrival of their sons we kept in touch. My daughters and I left Wpg. in '86, but the Christmas cards continued ~ until a few years ago ~ I just thought, with Grandchildren arriving for both of us that Wanda was busy with them as I was with mine. I had no idea things were as they were. To Rick, Shannon, Scott, Jeff, Pat, their families and any others I have missed, Theresa, Holly and I send our heartfelt Condolences and prayers to/for each and all of you. God Bless, comfort, lead, guide and Direct you as you navigate through this new path in your lives without Wanda's presence. Please know that there will Always be a wee part of Wanda in each of you, so while Wanda isn't physically here anymore, she is only Ever, a thought away, for you to remember the Loving Person that Wanda was and the legacy that she has left in Each one of you. Live as Wanda would advise you to :); Remember the Fun she shared with you, the laughs, the good times :); and, Embrace the warm memories you have of, and with, Wanda :). Wanda would want that for All those that she loved and whose company she Enjoyed :). - Posted by: Joan McDiarmid (Friend) on: Apr 28, 2014

I am so sorry for your loss Rick and Family. Wanda was a wonderful woman, intelligent, loving, and had a great sense of humour. She will be missed by many people, and the world has become a little more dull without her spark. - Posted by: Malina Roos (Friend) on: Apr 27, 2014
