Jeanne was born on April 13, 1921 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and had recently celebrated her 93rd birthday surrounded by family. With her parents, she moved at one year of age to Ste. Anne, MB. It was in this small rural community that her 13 siblings were born and the family was raised amidst great love, happiness, and laughter. Jeanne helped her mother care for her brothers and sisters and at the age of 17 moved to St. Boniface to live with her grandmother and aunt Bernadette beginning her training as a medical laboratory technologist at the St. Boniface Hospital. She was employed at the Manitoba Provincial Laboratory for 10 years working throughout the 1950 Winnipeg flood travelling to work by motor boat up Main Street (testing water to ensure potable drinking water for the city). She married Joseph in 1944 and they were blessed with two children. Jeanne eventually resumed her career working at St. Vital Hospital/St. Amant Centre as head of the laboratory for over 25 years until her retirement in 1986. She was always able to balance her dedication to her career with her greater love for her husband, children and family. Following her retirement she continued to give of herself volunteering for the church and other organizations for many years. She had a great love of all things beautiful enjoying the arts, travelling the world; was an avid reader and was always prepared to discuss current affairs. Jeanne had boundless love for her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow. Her strong faith, wisdom and great love will be deeply missed. The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their tender care and kindness. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street.
