PETER GABA It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Peter Gaba. He suddenly passed away on April 29, 2014 in Winnipeg at the age of 62 years. He was predeceased by parents Yaroslaw and Anna Gaba and in-laws Peter and Helen Lostowsky. Peter is survived by sons Paul (Jenny), Mike (Kerri) and grandson Grei; brothers George (Sylvia), Walter (Bev); sisters Irene (Dennis), Ann (Len); lifetime friend Linda and numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was born on May 23, 1951 in Winnipeg and grew up in Point Douglas. He attended Norquay, Aberdeen, St. John's Schools and graduated from electronics from RRCC. After graduation, he worked in construction as an electrician for a number of years and then for CN Rail where he was a respected electrician, leader and trainer in the diesel shop until his recent retirement. Peter was a loving and proud father who was hard working and generous. He enjoyed camping, fishing, travel, gardening, cooking and family get togethers. He was always ready to help family and friends who needed assistance in completing a project or providing his experienced how-to-do advice. Peter enjoyed a good debate and seldom conceded defeat. He loved his pets and animals that visited his back yard. Peter was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church and the St. Anne Council of the Knights of Columbus. The family would like to thank the paramedics, doctors and staff at the SICU of the Health Sciences Centre for their excellent and caring service. An Easter Parastas (Funeral Service) will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery at 4477 Main Street, on Monday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m. with Very Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel officiating. Interment will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
