We started at Oakview First Baptist in 1990. Kay was one of the faithful members. She walked from her house nearby. We'd see her sometimes walking from Superstore at Gateway & McLeod, walking home carrying 2 shopping bags. If I remember, Kay belonged to the Senior Women's group that met for years and helped support a missionary in Kenya. I think she also belonged to a Seniors' Bible Study that met at 1660 Henderson. Kay was a strong supporter of youth work at Oakview FBC. In 1998 Oakview merged with Grace Kildonan Baptist to become Cornerstone Baptist. At some point Kay moved over to Grant Park area, but continued to come to Cornerstone by bus, catching the 20 Watt St. downtown, and taking the Watt St again after the service. She would never accept a ride, although people offered her rides home. She would also refuse visits from the pastor or deacons, saying "I'm not a shut-in". I remember a recent winter accompanying Kay across Watt St. To the bus stop, but she insisted she could cross the street on her own. - Posted by: Dan Spurrill (Fellow church member) on: May 09, 2014

Kay was my neighbour. What a marvelous old lady she was. I loved her independence, seeing her out walking in all kinds of weather. She was sweet and cheerful whenever I met her. She was inspirational to many of us "younger ones". I shall miss seeing Kay and sometimes leaving a baked treat on her door handle. I will always remember her with a smile and respect. Blessings, light and comfort to all Kay’s family. - Posted by: Jacquie Hayward (Neighbour) on: May 05, 2014

I was not fortunate enough to know Catherine, but I was able to spend time with Lowell & Geoff. It was a privilege to meet you and spend time with you even for a short period. You made the room welcoming and inviting for us when my mom was moved in and we greatly appreciate your kindness. I believe we saw your mom's characteristics through her children. May God bless you and comfort you. - Posted by: Gayle McPherson (Family of Dorothy Lindblom (roommate in Victoria hospital)) on: May 03, 2014
