Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER BURDENY July 19, 1925 - April 11, 2014 Walter Burdeny slipped away peacefully at the age of 89 in the Maples Personal Care Home. Walter had endured a lengthy and debilitating illness for sometime but is now at peace. Walter was born in 1925 to Hnat and Maria Burdeny (nee Konowalchuk) in the Boyan District in the RM of Ethelbert. Walter was predeceased by his parents, wife of 54 years Elsie, daughter Linda Barabash, seven siblings and their spouses: Anne and Paul Linard, Helen and Mike Charpun, Elsie and John Oleksiuk, Nellie Burdeny, Dmitro and Victoria Burdeny, Max Burdeny, John Burdeny and sister-in-law Anne (Maurice) Burdeny. Walter is also predeceased by his loving companion and dear friend Nina Riglin. Walter is survived by his younger brother Maurice Burdeny of Edmonton, AB, his son-in-law Andy Barabash, grandchildren Lindsey Melnyk and Drew Barabash of Winnipeg, MB, many nieces and nephews, his care givers Birdie and David Davidchuk and dear friend John. Thank you to those who helped care for Walter at the Maples Personal Care Home these last few years. The funeral will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., #1 Hwy E, Winnipeg. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. All are invited to attend a lunch at Green Acres where we hope old friends and family will reunite to share memories and stories of Walter's spirited life. Flowers are graciously declined.
