ANTHONY MICHAEL OLINYK December 11, 1956 - April 30, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Tony (Sonny) on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He was predeceased by his father Michael. Tony will be deeply missed by June, his loving wife of 36 years, and her family, his mother Ollie, brother Jim, sisters Gaylene (Brian), Kathryn (Fred), nephews Darren and Michael, and niece Victoria. He will also be missed by his best buddy Casper, and his many friends both here at home and in Alberta and Minnesota. Tony was employed by CN and had just reached his 40th year anniversary with the company. Anyone who knew Tony would say he was fun-loving, kind-hearted, generous and a great friend who loved life. He always maintained a positive attitude even when his health was failing and his courage and strength carried him through many dark days because there was still so much living that he wanted to do. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Tony's life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Rd., Winnipeg, MB. If people wish to honour his memory donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 204-775-2220

  • This news truly saddens me. I knew Tony as Sonny in South Transcona long before working with him at CN. He was always ready with a laugh and I don't know if I ever saw him mad. I genuinely really liked this guy! My sincere condolences to his family and many friends. - Posted by: Les MacDonald (Friend and Co-worker) on: Jul 26, 2014

  • My hearfelt condolences to the family and mostly to June. My husband (John Lupachow) and I worked with Tony in Symington for many years...Tony was always happy, laughing and smiling at work. Just an incredible person who enjoyed life. June, I lost my husband John last August...all I can say is to embrace every memory and moment you had together. Tears are okay and healing takes as much time as you need and you say. Take care of yourself. - Posted by: Karalee Lupachow (CN Colleague and friend) on: May 30, 2014

  • Tony had some of the best “one-liners” of anyone I have met. He was the nucleus of our annual Brainerd excursions for many years, with lots of laughs and good times. His very strong network of friends reflected his great personality and someone you wanted associate with. He always had a smile and positive attitude, even when facing his challenges in life. Our condolences to June and his family. We will all miss him. - Posted by: Al Chovanchak (aka Chov) (Friend) on: May 11, 2014

  • Words cannot express how I feel about Tony's passing. He fought like such a trooper and June you were always fighting right by his side. I met Tony 20 years ago and am blessed to have had that man in my life. He was kind and caring and always put others before himself. He made many friends throughout the years during his many visits to Brainerd and he touched many peoples lives. He is missed by so many here. He may be gone but he will NEVER be forgotten. • Worked with Tony at Symington, hands down best boss I have ever worked for. At a time when the company was playing hard ball with its employees, Tony couldn't himself he still treated people as he always did, fair and even handed. When I saw him at car shows and he would be funny and upbeat even during his illness. This is a man I will truly miss in my life, and will think of at car shows and anytime I go to Brainerd. RIP Tony, you can ride your Harley everday now and every car you drive will have a Hemi. - Posted by: R.L.Millar (Friend & Co worker) on: May 05, 2014
