RONALD SLOBODIAN January 18, 1937- May 02, 2014 Peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, Ron passed away. He is survived by his wife Adel of 53 years, daughter Christine, son Dale, and daughter Suzanne Marquette (Randy); his precious grandchildren Austin and Macara; as well as his Aunt Frances Pala. Predeceased by his parents Nick in 1985 and Jean in 2008. Ron worked as a pressman at the Winnipeg Tribune, Web Graphics and finally the Winnipeg Free Press. He retired in 2000. He was very active in the union for many of those years. The family spent over 30 years enjoying summers at Hillside Beach. Ron enjoyed fishing, walking the dogs and late night bonfires with family and friends. Ron was an active member at the wellness centre, he also bowled in two different leagues. Ron had a great passion for sports, especially the Blue Bombers and the Jets. He was a passionate armchair coach. The family gratefully declines flowers. In his memory donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or CNIB. The family wish to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital 5th floor Cardiac Unit for their care and compassion for our husband and father, as well as our family, during this difficult time. Funeral service will be Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB (as per Ron's wishes cremation has taken place). Please do not mourn my passing, for I have lived life on my own terms and there is no greater freedom than in doing so. Remember the good times and cherish the moments shared together as I do. I will wait to see you again, but please don't be in a rush to come see me. Live long and happy lives for then we will have much to talk about.
