KENNETH JOHN LANCE BARKLEY July 23, 1949 - May 4, 2014 With family by his side, Ken took his last breath after a brief struggle with arterial disease. He will remain in the hearts of his wife Jo-Anne (Wachniak), sons and grandchildren, Ken Jr.; Trent (Trish), Logan, Ryleigh, Jace; Jonathon (Pam); Kevin (Lauren), Dallas; his brother Darryll (Joanne); sisters, Marla (Stan) Wojciechowski and Sharon (Leroy) Harold; in-laws Ron (Deb) and Dutch (Doraine) Wachniak, neices and nephews. Predeceasing Ken are parents Ken and Maude, first wife Gerry, children Paul and Cathy. Ken was born in Winnipeg. Mb. In 1979 he moved to B.C. with his young family. After the death of his wife, with lots of love to spare, Ken and Jo-Anne married in 1985 and moved back to Winnipeg. He was employed by Manitoba Housing for 27 years and was to retire this July. Ken was a proud member of Ukrainian Canadian Branch 141 Legion where he currently held the position of Treasurer and Past President. My husband was definitely a jack-of-all-trades. Not a thing he couldn't fix. Always a helping hand for anyone who needed things done. Especially at the place he loved, Oakbank, Manitoba. That was his get-away, vacation spot and a place where he could relax or always find something to fix. His Oakbank friends were very dear to him. As a Dad and Grampsy, he instilled his traits to carry on his legacy. Although he could seem quiet and quirky at times, his love for his kids was very precious. He was very proud of them and their accomplishments. As per Ken's wishes, cremation has taken place and a get together will be held Saturday, May 24, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Branch 141 Legion, 618 Selkirk Ave. You left us beautiful memories; Your Love is our guide. Although we cannot see you, You'll always be by our side. Night, Night. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • My deepest sympathy to the entire family. He was my building's superintendant and I only knew him for a few months. He was so incredibly kind and helpful to me and my young daughter, 18 months old. He was very playful with her and always said hi. As someone who recently became a single mom and had to move into housing, I was so anxious and really down on myself. He lifted my spirits when I told him this was temporary and that once I completed college, I'd be out and back on track. He was supportive and easy to talk to. I did not know him well, but he sure seemed to be a nice guy. May his memory never fade. Xo - Posted by: Karyn (Tenant ) on: May 15, 2014
