FREDA CANT May 17, 1935 - May 8, 2014 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Freda Cant on May 8, 2014 in Winnipeg, MB. Born in Astley, England and predeceased by her second husband Edward Cant (October 2012), first husband Ernest Leake (April 2002), parents Gladys and William Houghton, sister Enid, brother Frank and beloved granddaughter Ashley Kovari. She will be deeply missed by her children Corrinne (Wayne), Lesley (Perry), Lorraine (Terry), Norman, Donna (Kelly) and Shauna (Brian); and her many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. Also lovingly remembered by her family in England, brother Brian, sister Cindy, and many nieces and nephews; stepdaughters Sandra Cant, Joanne DeGroot (Glen) and their families in Canada. Mum grew up in England completing her nursing degree while raising six children, moving to Lac du Bonnet, MB in 1975, where she worked as a nurse in Beausejour, Pine Falls and Winnipeg. She was an avid gardener and crafter, creating beautiful pieces of needlework and ceramics that will continue to be treasured by her family for years to come. Cremation has taken place, a celebration of Mum's life will be held for family and friends May 31, 2014 at the Pioneer Club, Lac du Bonnet, MB, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Our family wishes to extend their thanks to the wonderful nurses, aides and staff at Riverview Health Centre and request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
