Date of Passing: May 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER EDWARD REA 1933-2014 After a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease, Walter passed away peacefully on May 7, 2014. Walter is survived by his daughter Delayne (Robert), son Doug (Isabel) and grandchildren Juan, Ricardo and Idalia, James (Pam) and grandchildren Ashley and Emily, and his wife Diana. He is also survived by his brother Ken (Beth) and their sons Kevin and Tim. On behalf of Walter, the Rea family would like to thank Mae Bukowski for all her caring, attention, dedication, and support when it was needed most. Walter had a very strong work ethic and a long career with CN Telecommunications. Throughout his life, he was dedicated to the Duke of Kent branch of the Royal Canadian Legion as both Member and Executive. Walter had a strong focus on family and in 2002 welcomed a new branch of the family at Doug's wedding in Veracruz, Mexico. He embraced a new culture and embarked on the challenge of learning the Spanish language in order to help him communicate with his newest family members. Over the years, Walter travelled thousands of miles across Canada, the USA and Mexico to visit his family, particularly children and grandchildren, taking countless pictures and sharing stories of his travels. The Rea family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff of the Riverview Health Centre. The care received by Walter was above and beyond expectations and was a significant factor in making his journey as comfortable as possible. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home at 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers please direct donations to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
