HALFDAN SOLBERG DELANO EASTMAN It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother and uncle, Halli Eastman on May 4, 2014 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 68 years. Left to mourn his passing is his sister, Lorraine Burton; sisterin-law, Lillian Magnusson; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, as well as friends who were a big part of his everyday life. Halli was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary; brothers Rudy, Johnny and Roland (Connie); sisters Delores and Gale, and nephews Blaine and Jaxon. Halli spent most of his life working in the construction industry but the true love of his life was flying. The years he spent piloting his own aircraft were his happiest. He was always willing to share his joy of flying with his friends whether it be talking about the marvels of aviation or taking them for a ride. Some of these rides surely ended in a "bumpy" landing, but to Halli, all was well and good. Halli will always be remembered as an incessant tease. As his nieces and nephews scurried away from him, the voice of Mother could always be heard "Quit, Halli!" He was quick-witted and there were times his humour touched on the dark side but everyone left him with a smile on their faces. Throughout his life Halli faced many adversities but he was always able to pull himself above and carry on doing whatever he set his mind to do. It broke our hearts to watch him lose his final battle but we take comfort in knowing that he is home with his Mom and Dad and his brothers and sisters. Your struggles are over at last, dear Halli. Funeral services will be held at the Riverton Lutheran Church on Monday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. followed immediately by a luncheon in the church hall. Cremation has taken place and interment of his ashes will take place at a later date. Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. - John Magee "Goda Nott Elskan" Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
