PETER DAVID BINGHAM JONES On May 12, 2014, Peter slipped peacefully into the presence of our Lord with his dear Pearl at his side. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his devoted wife Pearl; daughter Katherine "Kathi", son-in-law Gerry; granddaughters Rhiannon (Brayden) and Ashleigh Campbell and his loving grandpets. Peter is survived by his sister Patricia B Jones; brother Anthony B Jones and wife Jean, children Stephen and Helen and their families; sister Caroline and husband Dr. Reginald Byron, children Jack and Hugo and their families. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Enid Bingham Jones and baby sister Rosemary. Peter was born and educated in England. He joined the RAF in 1950 and quickly rose to a Commissioned Officer at 21. Peter immigrated to Canada in 1958 and was employed by Canadian Indemnity in Calgary and Winnipeg; Prudential Assurance and MPIC. Peter was a long time member of ReFit and enjoyed attending and the friendships he made. Peter was a member of Westwood Presbyterian Church since 1968; sang in the choir and served as an Elder. Peter had a great sense of humour, a wonderful laugh and a twinkle in his eye. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. His passing has left us with a huge void. We will meet again and will cherish our memories. The family would like to thank the EMS; Staff of Grace Hospital; Dr. Borrett and Dr. Joshua. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 at Westwood Presbyterian Church. Our thoughts and condolences to Aunt Pearl, Cousin Kathi, Gerry, Rhiannon, Ashleigh and other family members during this time. I have very happy memories of my Uncle Peter and in particular the keen sence of humour reflected in the hilarious birthday cards I received. I have known Peter since arriving in Winnipeg in 1971. We worked together, although not closely at MPI. And Peter and I shared time together at meetings of FCIP, previously Fellows of the Insurance Institute of Canada. I always found Peter to be very gentlemanly. I really loved your comment in the obituary about "the twinkle in his eye" and his great (dry) sense of humour. He will be missed.
