Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH EVA POKLITAR February 25, 1930 - May 13, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Poklitar. Eva is survived by children Bob (Shelley), Carol (Jim), Ken (Danita) and Ron (Lisa) and grandchildren Jason (Sylvie), Amanda, Ryan, Kelly, Nikolas, Eric, Jennifer, Neeka, Brandon and Leah and great-granddaughter Payton and sisters Doreen and Olive (Don) and nieces and nephews. Eva was predeceased by her husband Nick and parents George and Doris Mansfield. Mom was born in Odanah Municipality in rural Manitoba near Ninette. Mom and Dad were married in 1954 and raised their family in Transcona. Prior to having children Mom worked at a Winnipeg insurance broker and then became a full time wife and mother. Mom was an avid reader and would often be seen heading off to the Transcona Public Library. Mom also enjoyed going on walks with Dad, watching TV, cooking for her family and was active in the UCW at the Transcona United Church for many years. After Dad's retirement in 1984 Mom and Dad enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Europe and the Blue Ridge Mountains. While in the city they spent a lot of time going for breakfast in downtown Transcona or at Kildonan Place. They also enjoyed spending time at Club Regent. When Dad got ALS Mom was his primary care giver and never once complained about the many challenges. Shortly after Dad passed away, Mom developed dementia and eventually moved into the Irene Baron Eden Centre before moving to the River East Personal Care Home. The family would like to thank the staff at River East for looking after Mom during the past few years. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. I remember Eva as a very caring, loving wife and mother. She always welcomed family to her home for a cup of tea. She was a good grandma, but looked after grandpa first. Their love was great to see and she enjoyed his stories. She welcomed my mother into her family and my mom always felt at home with them. Many years ago when George and Doris, Eva's parents, lived in the Moore Park area they often played cards together with my Mom and Dad, (Eva and Fred Sherris). They knew each other from their younger years. - Posted by: Joyce and Harvey - We send our sympathy and love to all of Eva's family.
