Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARLENE LACHOWICH On Thursday, May 22, 2014, at her home, Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren after a brief but valiantly fought battle with esophageal cancer. Mom was born in Plumas, Manitoba on December 23, 1938. She was predeceased by her parents Emilia and Henry Wutke. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank, daughters Brenda (Alfred), Tania (Darryl) and grandchildren Travis, Katrina, Aiden and Emily. Also mourning her loss are her brothers Gordon (Lucy), Allan and Vernon (Debra). Mom left Plumas to begin work in Winnipeg at Eatons and then Cargill Grain. Mom and Dad were married on June 3, 1961 and welcomed Brenda in 1969 with Tania following in 1973. Mom devoted many years at home to raising her young girls. She returned to work at EH Price in 1982 until her retirement and the arrival of her first grandchild. Mom's real joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She took every opportunity to spend time with them whether it was babysitting, arm tickling, traveling, or attending many of their special events. Mom enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and spending time at the cabin with her family. The grandkids even got her tubing last summer! Mom faced her cancer diagnosis with courage, strength and dignity. Special thanks to Dr. Laycock, Dr. Harris, Dr. Thomas and all the staff at CancerCare in the Radiology Department. Mom never complained about her diagnosis and appreciated all the visits, kindness and help she received from family and friends. At Mom's request please make a donation in her name to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Mom - you told us your job here was done and what a job you did! We thank you for all your love and we will miss you. Your memory will always live on in our words, hearts and actions. We find peace in knowing you are finally at rest. Your Mother Marlene was a kind and gentle person! A beautiful soul. She trained me when I first started working at E.H. Price on the switchboard and she was so nice to me and had a lot of patience with me. I am sure you will miss her so much but she leaves such a legacy in you and your children! Keep her close to your heart! - Posted by: Wayne and Kris Karwacki (Friend ) on: May 29, 2014
