OLIVE MARIE ROSS
Date of Passing: May 25, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLIVE MARIE ROSS (born ALVINA FLETT) Mom passed away at the age of 92, surrounded by family, at the Victoria Hospital on May 25, 2014. Olive leaves to mourn her five children Bob (Susan), Henry (Jacqueline), Jack (Leona), Diana (Cliff), and Gary; her sisters Evelyn (Jack) Streyko, Virginia Martin, Mary Ann Campbell; brother Willie Flett, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Olive was predeceased by her parents Henry and Marie Flett of Winnipegosis, MB, five sisters, Ida, Nora, Flora, Agnes, Nellie, and one brother Donald. Olive was born in the R.M of Mossey River, MB. Mom spent 12 years in an Indian Residential School in Pine Creek, MB along with some of her brothers and sisters. During the Second World War Mom went to Ajax, ON to work in an Ammunitions Depot where she was able to help out her family by sending money and "clothing" for her little sisters, and then returning to Winnipeg to find other employment. Mom's greatest joy was her love of "Bingo", and scratch tickets where she was often a winner. Mom loved knitting, playing cards, dancing, buying nice outfits, and visiting with family. Olive prided herself in remembering each and every one of her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's names and was quite proud of them all. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the South East Personal Care Home for their care and compassion extended to our mother during her last three months of life. Our gratitude goes out to Unit 2 nurses Josephine and Evelyne as well as all the aides that attended to Mom. We would also like to thank the Victoria Hospital 5th floor staff for their compassionate care during Mom's last few days and hours as well as the use of the 3rd floor Comfort Room. Special thanks and appreciation to Jacqueline (Henry) for all her help looking after all of Mom's needs in the last several years and to Julie and Keith Ross (grandchildren) who were always there and ready to help on a moment's notice when an extra hand or emergency arose. Keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. A private gathering will take place at a later date. Rest in Peace "Grandma Bingo" If so desired donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8, cheques payable to VGH Foundation - (please indicate "Darlene Williams Comfort Room"). www.seasonsfunerals.ca

I always enjoyed my visits with Olive. She was pretty amazing and the best proof of that is found in the children she raised. You guys are all very special people and I am proud to have gotten to know your family. - Posted by: deborah maskus () on: Jun 01, 2014
