WILLIAM (WASYL) DANYLCHUK
Born: Mar 07, 1944
Date of Passing: May 27, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (WASYL) DANYLCHUK After a happy and healthy life, our husband, father, dido and brother passed away peacefully of cancer at the age of 70 on May 27, 2014 at the Ste. Anne Hospital. Born March 7, 1944 in Zhoda, MB, youngest son of Nykola and Mary (Baysorowich) Danylchuk. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Walter Danylchuk, sister Stella Chopyk, brothers-in-law John Chopyk, Marcel Gauthier, Robert Gauthier, John Hutchings, and Eddy Manaigre. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Gauthier), of 48 years, daughter and crib partner Sandra, and two granddaughters who filled his heart with laughter, Arianna and Cassia Perez, daughters to David Perez. He will be sadly missed by his brothers Mike Danylchuk and Alex (Jean) Danylchuk, sister-in-law Martha Danylchuk, mother-in-law Malvina Gauthier, brothers and sisters-in-law Dot (Terry) Harapiak, Noella Gauthier, Claudette Manaigre, Simone Gauthier (Aimé Fillion), Mona Gauthier Hutchings, Raoul Gauthier (Jacqueline Dorge), Dorothy Gauthier and Marc (Leanne) Gauthier and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly. Born in Zhoda, MB, dad attended Shevchenko School and played baseball with the Meteors. He started teaching in Craig Siding, MB and taught for 35 years in the Springfield and Seine River School Divisions, 30 of those years at the Lorette Collegiate. While teaching in Ste. Rita he met the love of his life Patricia. They were wed in a tiny church in Vita, MB on October 2, 1965. Residing in Lorette, MB from 1965 to present dad was a pillar of the community, he gave countless hours of his time to so many projects and sat on the RM of Taché Council as Councillor, Reeve and Mayor for 40 years. William and Patricia's love for each other was evident and being together was of great importance to them, you could tell by the many trips, "honeymoons", functions, boating in the evening at Falcon Lake, camping, walks and all the time just spent together. Dad loved music and it was a big part of his life as the accordion player with the Frazer River Boys for over 50 years. His faith was ever present in his life and he was an active member of his church community here in Lorette and at Zhoda, MB. Dad loved fishing, playing music, camping, gardening, playing games, building, learning, being active and just doing things in a fun loving spirit. He cared deeply for people and gave everyone his full attention and respect. He lovingly maintained long lasting friendships. His motto was "Life is not a dress rehearsal" The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Ste. Anne Hospital as well as the doctors and staff at the CancerCare Unit in Steinbach, MB for their brief care and support of William. Thank you also to all those who came to dad's side and offered their love, support and prayers during his illness. The Mass of the Resurrection will take place at the Notre Dame de Lorette Parish on Tuesday, June 3, with the eulogy beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Eucharistic Celebration by Father Charles Fillion. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Lorette Community Complex, Taché Library or the Notre Dame de Lorette Parish. Sending you my most sincere condolences on the loss of your husband and father. As a former student of both Mr. and Mrs. Danylchuk, I have many pleasant memories of Lorette Elementary and Collegiate all because of the special teachers, the Danylchuks! As time has passed, I have thought often about both of you, Mrs. Danylchuk, and wondered how you were doing. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you go through the hard days ahead. - Posted by: Charlene Van den Akker (nee Chamberlain) (Former student) on: Jun 17, 2014

Dear Sandra: I was so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I had the privilege of meeting him the day he picked you up after our adventure in Brandon; such a lovely man. He leaves a wonderful legacy, but with that comes a huge void, in the family and the community. Only time will fill that void; in the meantime, may the wonderful memories you have of him fill your heart and mind and soul. With fond regards and deep condolences, Pam Fryers - Posted by: Pam Fryers (co -worker of Sandra) on: Jun 09, 2014

I am so sorry Patricia for your loss, also sorry I did not get to see you and your family at the funeral but there was so much people that my daughter Sue would have not been able to stand in line for such a long time as she needs a new knee and a new hip also having one knee done last year she is still in a lot of pain. As for me, had my kness done 3 years ago and i cant stay up to long either it is a very trying time losing your love on but ALL I can tell you is time heals our broken hearts but you will find comfort and solace in your family and freinds. William was a wonderful person and I am happy I had the privilege to have known him. - Posted by: Jeannette Vandale (cousin) on: Jun 03, 2014

I will always remember Mr. Danylchuk for his sharp wit and sense of humour in the classroom. In preparing the class for tests or exams, he would assume the role of a cheesy game show host and appoint two "Cap-i-tains" to represent the teams. When a team would answer correctly, he would tap the metal coffee tin he kept on his desk and bellow "Corrrrrrrect!" He inspired a generation of students and I'm grateful to have been one of them!!! Rest in peace. - Posted by: Lisa Streeter (Nowoselski) (Student) on: Jun 03, 2014

As a former municipal councillor in R.M. of Rockwood, I would like to share a story about my friend William D. At a planning/municipal education event, we were asked to break into groups to discuss some issue. William, myself, and several others were together. We all visited, joked, and sort of got to what we were actually to discuss. When time came to report back to all those assembled, William was our spokesperson. William got up and... no notes.. made the best 3-4 min. speech I ever heard ... all off the top of his head. Our table delegates looked at each other in awe and admiration... We realized we were sitting with a great orator and someone special. William's family, friends, former students and all the people of the community have lost one of a kind. ... My deepest condolences. Tom Dykstra - Posted by: Tom Dykstra (Friend) on: Jun 03, 2014

My deepest condolences to Mrs. Danylchuk, Sandra and family. Mr. Danylchuk was a stellar teacher and taught so much more than what was in the books. He taught "life" and was also a large influence musically. He is missed. - Posted by: Patti Lamoureux (Former student) on: Jun 03, 2014

Always was a pleasure to see William whenever I got a chance at events and used to watch William play the accordion with the Fraser River boys and it was great to watch that.. was really shocked to learn of his passing, and hope he is at peace now.. I'm sure everyone will miss him but he will be in our hearts for a long time to come and to remember for sure... - Posted by: Roman Arseny (friend) on: Jun 02, 2014

William was one of my junior high teachers. He was a very patient and kind man who loved to teach. I still reside on the outskirts of Lorette and continued to speak with him on occasion in regards to municipal issues. He was a huge part of Lorette and tache municipality and will be sadly missed! My deepest sympathies go out to the Danylchuk family. - Posted by: Daphne Gobeil (former student) on: Jun 02, 2014

To Patricia and the Danylchuk family. So sorry for the loss of William--I have known Willie since we were kids growing up at Zhoda. Willie would always have a smile and a hello for me when visiting, or when we met each other at some function. He was an awesome person and school mate and friend. I will miss that man. - Posted by: Janet Dusolt ( friend) on: Jun 02, 2014

Dear Patricia, Sandra, Aunty Malvina and Family of William! My prayers have been with William and all of you since hearing about William's illness and now I will continue to pray for William and for all of you at this time of loss! When I think of William I smile automatically because he radiated such peace and joy from the first time I met him many years ago! Patricia, your wedding was the best wedding I've attended in my 67 years, fun, fun, fun and the best music and food! I was eighteen and I remember thinking to myself how much love I saw in your eyes when you married William! He made me laugh and he made me want to dance when he played his accordion! William had many talents and he was a "gift" to all who had the pleasure of knowing him! Rest assured he is at peace and is playing his accordion for all our loved ones who have passed on! God Bless! Love your cousin Shirley (my husband Ken also passes along his condolences) - Posted by: Shirley Sarafinchan (Cousin) on: Jun 02, 2014

We are truly sorry to hear about William's passing. He was a kind man, loving husband, father, and grandfather and this was evident to everyone who knew William. William was also a great mentor to many politicians and his accomplishments for all of Tache will not be soon forgotten. I will always remember two sayings that William was fond of using, his impression of Elvis, "Thank you, Thank you very much" and when a subdivision was approved he liked to say "Go ye fourth and build". He will be missed. - Posted by: Ron & Ann Tardiff (Friend) on: Jun 02, 2014

Matthew 11:28,30 '' Come to me all you who are weary & burdened, & I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light ''we enjoyed dancing to the sweet tunes coming from his accordion, his smile his jovial self, a great entertainer. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Pat, Sandra and family. Bill has many accomplishments in family and community. The RM of Tache has lost a great man. We don't think that you could ever find a more dedicated man then Bill. He made time for anyone, business or friend. Whoever takes over Bill's position has big shoes to fill. We went to a dance in Richer before Christmas and Bill's band was playing. He had so much fun joking with the band members and the crowd and later with Brian during intermission. You could tell how much he loved music by the way he played the accordion. I (Anne) watch accordion players very closely as I also play accordion. I like to watch their technique and Bill was having so much fun. We were very sad to hear later of Bill`s illness, but we are so glad Pat that we ran into you at Chicken Chef a couple of weeks ago and had a nice visit. Bill has set a great example for all of us and we thank him for that. He will be looked after very well in Heaven and if you look up to Heaven at night, the brightest star in the sky will be Bill. He will always be with you. We love you. Anne & Brian Prior - Posted by: Anne & Brian Prior (Friend) on: Jun 01, 2014

I first met William when I was 10 years old and he was marrying my cousin Patricia. I will never forget how warm and friendly William was from the first moment I met him. He always had a smile on his face and was ready to give you a hug when he saw you!! He loved music and displayed this when he played the accordion or danced the polka! My Mom,(Nettie) and my Dad (Rosie)always felt like William was a part of the family because he just FIT in so well!! You will be missed by many William, but I know that you are safe in God`s arms! God Bless! Love, Lorraine - Posted by: Lorraine Gauthier (cousin) on: May 31, 2014

My condolences to Patricia and the Danylchuk family. Mr. Danylchuk was my teacher during my elementary school years at Lorette. He was a kind and understanding person who had a great influence me and on my future years in university. I truly thank him for that. I happened to meet William about 4-5 years ago, and I was surprised that, after all the years, he knew who I was and addressed me by my first name. During my years at Lorette I also had the pleasure of being friends with Robert and Raoul Gauthier, and I remember their love for basketball. - Posted by: Anthony (Tony) Bielik (Student Lorette Collegiate Class of 1976) on: May 31, 2014

Mr. Danylchuk, you were such an amazing person. In school I struggled with math and he would stay at lunches and after school just to help me... He gave his time and care whenever I needed it. As an adult I still knew him and whenever I saw him we would chat about life and stuff going on.... I had the awesome opportunity to see him play in his band several times and enjoyed every minute of it..... Sorry Pat, I couldn't be there at Green Acres to take care of him and you and your family but I've moved to BC with my family for work.... Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and that he is close by with you and your family... He was an awesome,e amazing man and I'm so blessed that I had the chance to have him in my life. I will always remember him with a big heart and smile. Pat, Sandra, Arianna & Cassia: We are so sorry for the loss of William. A great husband, father & grandfather who displayed such pride when it came to his family. We are truly honoured to have known him for so many years. His boisterous laughter and infectious smile displayed his love of life and he lived each day to the fullest. His ongoing strength battling his illness from day to day was truly remarkable. Our loss is Heaven's gain. God has taken a very special Angel from us. Knowing William; he would want all who knew him to celebrate his life and not mourn his death. He has certainly left an impact on the community he served for so many years. May this Guardian Angel give you the strength you need through this very difficult time. He will truly be missed but never forgotten. Our sincere condolences go out to all of you. It came as quite a surprise to me to read that our friend and Municipal Emergency preparedness supporter has moved closer to our Lord and Savior... Every time I was in William's company it was like we had not been apart for very long! To the whole family I offer my most sincere condolences and Healing prayers... I must say though that every time I will now see a crab apple tree it will remind me of our friend William!!! - Posted by: Joseph Marc Bruyère (Emergency Preparedness co-workers and friends of the family) on: May 31, 2014

Patricia and family, my heart goes out to you, losing such a precious part of your life. I went to school with William many years ago... He sat behind me and would always play little pranks on me, like pull my hair lightly and then pretend he was so busy with his studies... A smile never left his face... It was such a joy to know him and be his school mate. Memories of him will forever remain in my heart.
