NIKOLAUS PREIS Once again it breaks our hearts to announce the passing of Nikolaus Preis on June 3, 2014, father, grandfather and great-grandfather a little over a month after the death of his wife Berta. He is survived by and greatly missed by his sons Karl Vogelsang (Donna), Waldemar Vogelsang (Christa) and Rudy Preis, his grandchildren Katharine Krystalowich (Dan), Pam Christenson (Myles), Jason Vogelsang (Tara) and Kimberly Vogelsang. Also missing their Opa are great-grandchildren Payton, Braydon, Gracie, Mason, Olivia, Chase, Ryan, Ben and Sean and stepgreat-grandchildren Wyatt, Ethan and Mattie Parks. He is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews in Canada as well as in Germany. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Karoline Boeringer and brother-in-law Fritz Engels in Germany and sister-in-law Berta Rehberg. Nikolaus was predeceased by his parents Heinrich and Wilhelmine Preis, adoptive mother Anna Maerz, sister-in-law Irene Engels, brothers-in-law Rudy Boeringer and Friedrich Rehberg. Dad was born March 10, 1928 in Freidenthal, Ukraine. He married Berta on April 7, 1956 and immigrated with his new family to Winnipeg later that same year. Dad dedicated 58 years to his family, supporting his children, grandchildren and finally his great-grandchildren in so many ways. Although not much of a traveler he managed to visit relatives in Canada, United States and of course Germany. He loved us all dearly and we will miss him very much. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Reception to follow in Glen Eden Reception Centre, interment to take place at Brookside Cemetery following reception. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Many thanks to the staff at Victoria and Misericordia Hospitals for the wonderful care he received. In lieu of flowers we request that you donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 338-7111
