Date of Passing: Jun 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENA LANIUK Peacefully, on Saturday, June 7, 2014, Lena passed away at the age of 93. Lena is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Carolin Hull and Elaine Kaethler (John), grandchildren Kim Bollenbach (Shane), Daina Laniuk, Darren Hull (Natel), Robert Kaethler (Natasha), Daniel Kaethler (Carmen), great-grandchildren Tanner, Samantha and Travis Bollenbach, Madden Hull and Charlotte Kaethler, and niece Laura Harper (Jim). Lena was predeceased by her parents, brother Bill Babychuk, sisters Mary Laniuk and Jean Gillay, and beloved son Victor Laniuk. She will be sadly missed by numerous relatives and friends, too many to list. Lena was born on November 23, 1920 in Wishart, Saskatchewan. Life was hard, but happy. Later she married, had three children and moved them to Winnipeg as a single mother. Money was tight, but Lena was a smart, shrewd and loving mother who lived for her children and put them first. She promptly found work at Canada Bread, and later McGavins, for 30 years. She also boarded people at her home to make ends meet, and some of those boarders are friends to this day. Lena retired in 1985 and devoted her life to family, grandchildren, trips to the farm, her faith, and her cooking. Many a perogy and apple pie - always from scratch of course, were shared at her table, and her table was always full. These things were the fabric of her life. She passed away loved, fulfilled and content. She never had a bad word for anyone; she was the best and will never be forgotten. Many thanks to Dawn and staff at Oakview Place. Viewing at 1:30 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Thursday, June 12, 2014 with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial and reception to follow. I'm very sad to hear of nan's passing, to all of the family my deepest sympathy. Nan was a very kind and gentile woman and yes a fantastic cook,I know this to be true as I was lucky enough to sample her cooking and baking at many family events. Rest in peace Nan Jack - Posted by: Don Thomson (Friend) on: Jun 19, 2014
