Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • That man was like family. He was an amazing mentor and an even more amazing person. I met him through cadets. And they are right you could tell that working with us and watching us grow and rank and become the young men and women we have today he was proud of all of us. He worked so hard to help us make it through our duke of end programs and was there to help us learn and grow. The world won't be the same with out him here. I wish his family all my support. Just know that he had made a difference in so many lives. And be proud of him because he sure was proud of all of us... - Posted by: Sam Markowski (friend) on: Jun 19, 2014

  • So sad at Colin's passing. Colin "roped" me into 182 Squadron all those years ago when it was just his dream & as the squadron's first Supply Officer (if only for a year!), we had many a laugh with him & all the other good folk who helped get it off the ground. His wonderful Memorial today was a testement to what a great man & friend he was. He has left a wonderful legacy for the youth of Gimli. Rest in Peace Colin. - Posted by: Shelagh Morrow (Friend) on: Jun 14, 2014

  • I first met Colin when we moved to Gimli in 1981. We became friends and have remained so ever since. Colin got me involed in the air cadet program back in 1983 when he, one of the founding members, was getting the squadron off the ground. It was so much work, and so much fun, and Colin was so proud of all the cadets for all these years. He was a caring, compassionate, fun loving, hardworking, dedicated man. He adored his family above all. I was truly blessed to have known him all these years, to have been able to call such a wonderful man my friend. I will miss you Colin, so very much. Rest in peace my friend. Per Ardua Ad Astra. - Posted by: Darlene Vokey (Friend) on: Jun 12, 2014

  • I met capt Heathcote when we joined air cadets in gimli in 2001. He helped me pursue my gold award with the duke of edinburgh program and was a great supporter to me while I deployed to Afghanistan with the military. I always made timefor a lunch date with him and my dad when I would come home to gimli to visit. You will be truly missed. Thank you for everything you have taught me throughout the years. I will miss your stories. - Posted by: Tanya Woroniuk (friend ) on: Jun 12, 2014

  • Colin was a lover of cricket. He had a great passion for the game and would do anything to help promote the sport anywhere he can. He was a loving and caring human being and will be missed by everyone who came in contact with him. It was my honour to serve with him on the MCA Executive Committee and he taught me a few things about sacrifices. The cricketing community will miss him immensely. On behalf of all cricketers in Manitoba, we thank him for all his hard work, effort and service to help grow the sport of cricket in Manitoba. Rest in peace. He will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Garvin Budhoo (Member of Manitoba Cricket Association Executive) on: Jun 10, 2014
