DAVID NEIL MCTAGGART April 3, 1935 June 10, 2014 On Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Stonewall Hospital our Dad left us to be with his parents John and Janet and his brothers John, Hugh, George and Ed. Dave's presence will be missed by his dear sister Margaret (John); his beloved daughters Wanda (George), Gail (Doug) and Sandra; grandchildren Ryan, Wayne, Sarah, Julie and Lisa. Dave leaves special memories with numerous nieces and nephews. Dave grew up in Winnipeg and received his journeyman carpenter's paper in August of 1960. He moved to Charleswood when he married Margaret and started one of his of many building projects building a lovely home and riding stable. He started off working for Wallace and Aikens and then the Winnipeg School Board before deciding to work independently at his trade. Years after his divorce Dave moved to Stony Mountain and made this home. He was very dedicated to family and friends and was always there to lend a hand or advice ie. "take over the building project". If Dave built something it was built to last with no short cuts, passing on his tips to numerous friends and family members. Retirement was not in his vocabulary still climbing on roof tops and overseeing projects. Dave also enjoyed coaching hockey at Stony Mountain Rec Centre and continued this even after his grandsons had changed to other sports. Dave was a strong man who met life's challenges without complaining. His positive nature and passion for his work and family was lifelong. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Stonewall Hospital and especially Dr. Graham for taking over Dad's care in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave's memory to the Southwest District Palliative Care, Inc., P.O. Box 1282, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0 or Stony Mountain Community Association, Box 449, Stony Mountain, MB R0C 3A0. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Stonewall. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL 204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

  • Uncle David always, always reminded me of my Dad, they looked so much alike. I will miss you terribly. Every single time that I've come home to Winnipeg Uncle David always came over and we visited a lot! Will always remember that "Soo.. how's life treating ya?" and motioning me outside to have a smoke with him. I am grateful that he didn't suffer too too long and am so very very sorry. Wanda, Gail and Sandra, my prayers are with all of you. Love always, Michele - Posted by: Michele Morrison (Uncle) on: Jun 15, 2014

  • We met David numerous times at his sister-in-law Joyce McTaggart's home. He was a hard worker and worked on many different projects for her. Joyce was always thankful for the work he did there. - Posted by: Teresa and Ken MacIntosh (Friend) on: Jun 14, 2014

  • So sorry to hear about the loss of Dave. I will surely miss seeing him in the diner having breakfast and calling me over to talk about something around town that he needed me to know about and fix. He was such a character in every sense of the word, a dedicated community member who was always looking to help with whatever he could. I admired his enthusiasm and respected his opinion and always had fun with him and called him old buzzard, with respect of course. Rest in peace my friend, till we meet again . - Posted by: willy and laurie pinchin and family (friend) on: Jun 14, 2014

  • So very sad to hear about the loss of Dave. He was a really nice man. I have know him since I was 4 years old and my family was very fond of him, as were many. He has been there for helping with various jobs around town, our children all grew up knowing him and he has volunteered in just about every area of our community and our sports associations....R.I.P Mr McTaggart. I am happy that we got to see you last week and share that newspaper with you :) We will miss you and never forget you .....hugs and prayers to your family, so sorry for your loss <3 - Posted by: Tina, Kevin, John & Kurtis Campbell (Friend) on: Jun 12, 2014
