Just heard or would have been there for you. A buck sixty eight between us and we hitch hiked from Winnipeg Memorial Park to San Francisco. Grand Beach motorcycles and Music so many good times, and I will always remember the Manitoba Bush Hook. I haven't seen Ricky or Valerie for 45 years but I have never forgotten them nor their musical abilities. I went to school with them when I lived on Valour Road and am very shocked to hear of Ricky's passing away. My most sincere condolences. I am still shocked by the sudden passing of Rick. I had worked with Rick for many years. He was diligent, conscientious, honest, and always cared about his work. The period that I came to know him better was when he was serving on the Safety Committee as an employee rep for the South Area for four years and I was the committee co-chair. Rick was passionate about workplace safety and the well-being of his fellow workers. He did arduous research on safety issues on his own time and presented the findings to the committee to improve safety. He was a caring person. When I retired from the City under unexpected circumstances this year, he called and gave me encouragement and support. Those kind words meant a lot to me for which I would always appreciate. Thank you, Rick. - Posted by: Stanley Siu (Co-worker (City of Winnipeg)) on: Jul 15, 2014

My Brother Alf just told me about Rick's passing, and I was so sad to hear of it. I was 13 when I met Rick who was a friend of my big bother, and I will never forget the fact that Rick always said Hi to a kid trying to be a Hippie in Memorial Park, and when I went to summer school one year I knew no one, and was constantly bullied until I passed Rick in the hall of the same summer school, he stopped to talk to me and the bullying stopped! Thank You Kitcher for your kindness, and sleep well. - Posted by: Mark Silver (Friend) on: Jul 02, 2014

A friend, a buddy, you will always be part of my life. You taught me lots, you will be missed my friend and buddy - great friend. We shared lots of laughter. He saw me grow up and he was the best guy to have as a neighbour, always saying hello, always made sure our backlanes were clear and also the front street. Our family send our condolance to the family from the Pelltiers. R.I.P R.V.K .. - Posted by: Chris pelletier (Next door friend ) on: Jun 20, 2014

It was, and always is, a shock to see one of your peers passing away, especially at such a young age. I had not seen or spoken to Rick (or Kitcher as we called him) in decades but I just wanted to pass on my condolences to his friends and family. My history with him was brief. We were all "hippies" in Memorial Park and I remember him being such a funny guy. I know all the girls were in love with him. He was quite the handsome, charming fellow. Again, my sincerest condolences. - Posted by: Fran Arcioni McQuiggin (old friend) on: Jun 14, 2014
