JOHN RICHARD DOUGLAS (DICK) STEVENSON 1945 - 2014 With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Richard, beloved husband of Maria and loving father of Terra, on June 10, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Cecily Stevenson, his parents-in-law, Anastazia and Iwan Lech, brothers-in-law Hal Geraghty, Peter Burrows and sister-in-law Jean Stevenson. Richard leaves to mourn, Maria, his loving wife of 41 years and his adoring daughter Terra; his siblings David Stevenson, Betty Geraghty, Pat Burrows, Sally Corby (Paul) and Cathy Sweeney (Michael); sisters-in-law Irene Lech and Ann Feierstein (Max), 17 nieces and nephews, as well his two German Shepherds, King and Parker. All will miss him tremendously. Richard was born and educated in Winnipeg, where he continued to live until his passing. His passions were many and varied. He was always interested in entrepreneurial pursuits, having owned two ice-cream businesses, a fried chicken business, a movie video outlet and an on-line B & B booking business. His most recent project was setting up a computer program system to co-ordinate hospital bed allocations and surgery bookings. Richard loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a consummate Winnipeg Blue Bomber, and Winnipeg Jets supporter, holding season tickets for decades. He participated in several community committees, coached soccer, loved scuba diving and motorcycling and enjoyed meeting his friends at the "Sals". A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, Wilton and Grosvenor. If friends so wish, donations may be made to the Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba. Richard loved well and was well-loved.
