JACOB BENJAMIN DURKSEN Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, Jake Durksen, beloved husband of Esther, died on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the age of 74. Besides his wife he is survived by three children Naomi (Deron) Warkentin, Rachel (Zach) Dixon, and Tim (Allison) Durksen; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Jake's love and generosity touched many lives. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue with interment prior at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 7:00 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street.

  • The picture of Jake did him justice- so alive and vibrant. I like it. He was such a special youngest brother. Memories and stories have come alive to us since he went HOME. Our five daughters have good memories of Uncle Jake when he came to our home...funny (standing on his head and more) and serious with a love for God that shone through. We will miss him so much.
