Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLEM PIETER JANSSEN Willem Pieter Janssen, suddenly, on June 20, 2014. He joins his soul mate and loving wife, Maria. Willem will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, his son Paul (Grace), and his children Paul, Lisa (Holly) and Megan (Jordan); his son Willie (Gisele) and children Robert (Pam), Thomas and Stacey; his son Jules; his son Michael (Darlene) and children Willie (Gillian), Erin (Chris and daughter Rae Ann) and Michael, step children Tanya, Lisa and Jamie Parker and other grandchildren Anakin, Jaden, Taylor, Kailey; and his daughter Charlotte (Gary) and her children Maria, Matthew and Peter De Sanctis. Willem, whose seven brothers and sisters have all predeceased him, will also be missed by his sister in law Netjie Janssen of Saskatchewan and those of Maria's ten brothers and sisters of the Weeker's family in The Netherlands who survive and his numerous nieces and nephews. Willem was born in Horst, The Netherlands on December 31, 1921, married Maria on August 8, 1950 in St. Martinus Church in Weert. They emigrated to Canada with their son Paul in June, 1953. They landed in Halifax, and settled in Saskatchewan for twelve years and Alberta for one year, prior to moving to Winnipeg in 1966 with their five children. He proudly recited his family history in his web page: www.mikejanssen.com Willem loved family and history, and until his dying day was an economist, social activist and veracious reader of history and politics. He devoted himself tirelessly to the well being of his wife of over 58 years and his children. Nothing made him happier than family gatherings, a good book and living independently right up until his death. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church at 4588 Roblin Boulevard, Winnipeg, Manitoba at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, with interment and a reception immediately following the mass at Chapel Lawn Memorial at 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers a donation in honour of Willem Janssen may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
