Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGENOWEFA JANINA BASAROWICH March 17, 1960 - June 17, 2014 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Geny on Tuesday evening at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her father, Waldemar Skrzyp. Geny is survived by her husband of 11 years, Rick, and her son Sebastian. She also leaves behind her sister Lucyna, brother Bogdan, and mother Celina in Poland. Geny left Poland and lived briefly in Vienna, Austria before immigrating to Winnipeg in 1981. She was a loving mother to her son, Sebastian, who was six months old when they moved to Canada. Geny met Rick in 1995, and it was love at first sight. The two moved west and settled in Nanaimo in August of 2003. Geny was a nature lover; she enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, and loved animals. She and Rick enjoyed playing tennis. They also loved spending their winters on their boat in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Geny had a big heart and was loved by many. She was spiritual person and a devoted Catholic throughout her life. Funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB on Friday, June 27 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
