JOAN DEJONCKHEERE
Date of Passing: Jun 22, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN DEJONCKHEERE It is with heavy hearts the Dejonckheere family announces the passing of Joan Dejonckheere on June 22, 2014 at the age of 48 years. After a valiant fight against cancer, Joan passed away surrounded by love with her husband and her sons by her side. Left to mourn and to cherish her memory is her loving husband Doug of 25 years; sons Ryan and Adam; extended family members and many friends. She is predeceased by her parents Bill and Veronica Hutchinson. Joan was always most happy in the company of her sons and their friends whom she considered her extended family. Always involved in their lives, Joan spent many years on the St. Gerard School board and volunteering with the community clubs the boys played out of. Her involvement in their lives as an active participant instead of only a spectator brought great joy to both her and her family. There was no greater cheerleader of her boys or proof reader of their work than Joan and thus left a legacy through her children of academic and athletic excellence. The community will miss her, but is a far better place because of her. A heartfelt thanks to the nurses and aids at Riverview Health Centre who helped Joan complete her journey with dignity and compassion. A funeral mass will be held at St. Gerard Parish at 45 Foster Street, Winnipeg, MB at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 with interment and a reception immediately following the mass at Green Acres Cemetery, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Joan's name can be made to St. Gerard School, 40 Foster Street, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1V7. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

Doug, Ryan, Adam. We were crushed to hear the devastating news that you had lost your wife/mother. Though we had not seen each other for some time you were always in our hearts, and in our conversations. Joanie was always a smiling happy face, willing and trying to help. What a great wife and Mother you had. We pray God will guide and keep you men, as Joan would have. God bless. Gordy & Edithe S. - Posted by: Gordon and Edithe Shelby (Friend) on: Jul 16, 2014

I remember Joan from our school days at St. B. I did not know her well, (I was a little older) but she was always happy and smiling and so kind to everyone that came across her path. Her spirit of always giving of her time and care and concern, was noticed by all. My daughter (Tasia Knysh) went to school with her son, and together we wish the family our deepest condolences. Our prayers will be for your family at this difficult time. May the memories you have of your dear wife and mother bring you some comfort. God Bless. - Posted by: Tammie Sainsbury (Manchur) (school) on: Jun 25, 2014

I'm so sorry for your loss Doug, your boys, family and friends. I knew Joan back in high school. She was in grade 12 when I was in grade 10. Joan was always such a kind, pleasant and soft hearted woman back then. She had a gentle and calm peace about her and she spoke to everyone with love. Joan always had such a welcoming attitude about her and that beautiful smile each time anyone would see her. I pray for God's peace and comfort surrounding your hurting hearts during this difficult time and for the future difficult times. Joan truly was a blessing to all of us and yes life on earth was better because of Joan. - Posted by: Angela Stupak () on: Jun 24, 2014
