We will miss him! - Posted by: Darby Spicer (Nephew) on: Jun 26, 2014

As a child I remember Dad always reading the several newspapers that he received, keeping up with the local news, agricultural advances and the politics that affected our farming life. This, I believe, is what kept his mind so sharp all these years, even until his very last days. Dad was always inquisitive as to how my job was going and where I had been that week. I will miss our phone conversations and debates on world affairs and gossip from the hometown. I will also miss the stories of his youth like the contraptions that he and Uncle Paul would build to mischievously torment the farm cats and chickens. Dad was a major influence on my life teaching me and my siblings many useful skills and the confidence to try anything. His strength of character and tenacity kept all of us in check. These, and many more of the gifts he gave, were free for the taking as he unknowingly guided us each along our chosen paths. Dad was a wonderful grandfather. Every visit with his grandchildren began and ended with a long lingering bear hug, tender kisses and whispers of “I love you” in the ear. Although you are gone now Dad, and we never got a chance to say farewell, know that I will always love and respect you and will cherish the memory of you in my heart for the rest of my days. Thank you for everything that you have done for me and my family. Until we meet again, Harley. - Posted by: Harley Alexiuk (Son) on: Jun 26, 2014
