OLGA KLYM October 24, 1924 - June 25, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our Mother and Baba, Olga Klym, on June 25, 2014. She will be missed by her daughters Arlene (Reg Perry), Joanne, and Colleen (Rick Joyal), and her grandchildren Jesse Perry, Alicia Perry and Bridget Joyal. Olga will also be missed by her brother, Andy Melnyk, sisters Sophie Firman and Rose Kit, and her brothers and sisters-in-law Mike and Marie Klym and David and Elaine Klym. There are numerous nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors who will also mourn her loss. She was predeceased by her husband Joe, granddaughter Jasmine Joyal, her parents Mike and Anne Melnyk, her brothers and sisters and their spouses John and Jean Melnyk, Walter and Joyce Melnyk, Mary and Steve Natyna, Jean and Norman Baldock, Anne Melnyk, Walter Firman and John Kit, her parents-in-law John and Mary Klym, and her brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Dora Klym. Olga was born on the family farm in Skylake. She worked in Winnipeg and Toronto before returning to Arborg to join her father and brothers who owned a transfer business. She and Joe were married in 1953 and together they bought a farm in Vidir. Olga was a true partner in the farming operation and spent her spare time tending a large vegetable garden and several flower gardens. Our home was a center piece for family get togethers. There were few weekends where the house wasn't full of family and friends and Mother always had lots of food to serve her guests. No one ever left hungry. Our Mother was very active in the community. She belonged to the Vidir Ladies Aid, Arborg and District Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Ukrainian Catholic Sacred Heart Church, Vidir 4H Club, Arborg Curling Club, A.R.D.A and F.R.E.D. Boards. She never said no to anyone needing help or to any organization needing a volunteer. She was a proud Baba, caring for Jesse and Alicia in their pre-school years. She and Dad supported all three grandchildren's activities for as long as they were able to. She was a very social person and loved to visit with her family and friends. Along with being loving, compassionate, generous and hospitable, she had that wonderful trait which allowed her to see only the good in people. We want to thank the staff at the Fisher Branch Personal Care Home, and the Arborg Personal Care Home for the excellent care provided to our Mother over the past two years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arborg & District Health Center Ladies Auxiliary, Box 301, Arborg, MB, R0C 0A0 or to Riverdale Place Homes, Box 968, Arborg, MB, R0C 0A0. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home in Arborg. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Arborg. Vichnaya Pamyat MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME ARBORG 204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net
