GEORGE OWEN SMITH George Owen Smith, beloved husband of Edna Smith, passed away June 26, 2014 at his home at the age of 76 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. with Wilma Shirriff officiating. Interment will follow at McKenzie High Bluff Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Wednesday evening, July 2 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Predeceased by his parents Owen and Laurine Smith; brother Lorne; brothers-in-law Ken Floyd, Doug Bond and Ray Fawcett. George is survived by his beloved wife Edna; sons Craig (Karen) and children Haley and Chantel, Darrell (Trina) and daughter Dominique, and Mark (Leanne) and daughter Melody; sisters Marge, June, Elaine; brother Pat (Mary); sister-in-law Ruth (Fred) Robinson, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0K8, Children's Wish Foundation, Box 1106, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3C5 or to a charity of your choice.
