ALBERT WOOD Albert Wood, aged 89, passed away peacefully June 29, 2014. Bert was born October 16, 1924 in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. He was the youngest child of the late George and May (Parish) Wood. He was married to and is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Audrey (Perry). He was the dearest and most devoted father to his children, Susan (Robert Gratton), Jeff (Coral), Greg (Lien) and Grant (Kathy). He was a proud grandfather to Patricia (Lewis Kinvig) Colin (Teresa), Chantal, Marc-andre, Patrick, Tracy (Filip), Tanya, Emily and Henry. He was a delighted great-grandfather to Holden, Gabriel and Lincoln. He was a dear brother to Mary (Wetton) and Bob and to the late Ralph, Alice, Ted, Tom and Bud; and an uncle to many. Dad left Lac du Bonnet in 1943 to enlist in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. He was assigned to the Calgary Highlanders Regiment, fought for his country and was injured in France in 1944. He recovered overseas with his English family by his side before moving to Pine Falls where he met Mom. They married in 1951 and settled in the house built by his father in Lac du Bonnet on the banks of the Winnipeg River. Dad enjoyed serving as Postmaster for 24 years. Dad's life was committed to serving others; he served his country, his community, his family and those in need. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #164, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He was a lover of fine music and had a wonderful voice; he was a dedicated member of the choir at the Lutheran Church of the Cross. Dad and Mom loved to travel, explore and meet people. Dad could talk to strangers for hours! They enjoyed the company of the people they met through Good Sams Camping Club. Our family would like to thank the Seine River Retirement Residence for their caring approach with all the seniors, and the staff on the U5 Ward of Seven Oaks Hospital for the compassionate care they gave Dad. A Celebration of Dad's life was held on Friday, July 4. Donations may be made in Dad's memory to a charity of your choice. God has you in his arms And we have you in our hearts We love you Dad NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

I had the honor of meeting Mr. Wood and his brother during my employment at Seine River. I would call them my terrible twosome and ask them what kind of trouble they were causing. They would always laugh and say "just enough"! He was a lovely man - always had a smile, always upbeat and happy. My condolences to you..... - Posted by: Liane (Seine River) on: Jul 22, 2014
