ELIZABETH (BETTY) LANGRUD We are saddened to announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Langrud. She was predeceased by her husband Bert and her daughter Glenis. Survived to grieve her loss is her daughter Darlene Borowski (Ernie), grandchildren; Kim McMeekin (Tim) and Scott Nolan (Rachael) as well as great-granchildren, Briana, Tyler and Kenna McMeekin. She will also be greatly missed by Barry Nolan (Mary-Ann). Mom was born and raised in Alberta and she was the youngest of five siblings. She shared many happy memories of those early years. She met and married an Alberta boy, Obert (Bert) Langrud in 1948 and together they moved to Victoria as Dad was serving in the Navy. They had their first daughter Darlene there in 1950. Soon after, we moved to Calgary then to Edmonton where their second daughter Glenis was born in 1953. Dad joined the office of The Retail Credit Company (now called Equifax Canada) while Mom remained a stay at home Mom with their girls. The next moves were to Winnipeg in 1959, Regina in 1965, Toronto in 1969 then back to Winnipeg in 1974. It was a tragic time in February 1975 when we lost Glenis. Throughout all the moves my parents shared many happy times. Mom enjoyed many different crafts as well as needlepoint and crocheting. Mom (and Dad as well) played a huge role in the lives of their grandchildren, Kim and Scott. Their's was a home away from home and the kids spent countless hours there with Nanny and Papa on a regular basis. Mom and Dad cherished the role they both played in the lives of their grandchildren and that carried on to include their 3 great-grandchildren. They were so proud of and dearly loved those kids. They were both avid curlers, baseball fans and made many long lasting friendships wherever they lived. Mom's life has not been the same since we lost my Dad after 63 years of marriage as she missed him terribly. We all feel a sense of peace now that they are together. At Mom's request there will not be a funeral service. If you would like to honour her memory, donations may be made to the Khartum Ladies Auxillary, 344 Whytewold St. Winnipeg, MB, R3J 2W5 or a charity of your choice. This organization uses 100% of all donations to aid children living with disabilities in Manitoba.
