CONSTANCE JEAN SMITH (nee MCNABB) December 28, 1928 - July 1, 2014 Tragically we announce the passing of Constance Jean Smith on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Left to mourn her passing are Eileen Kellner (Harvey); seven sons Lorne, Douglas (Marilyn), Reginald (Anita), William, Donald (Maria), Earl and Eric; grandchildren Nadine and Shannon Kellner, Lovell, Sandy Smith, Jordon and Taylor Smith. Constance was predeceased by her husband Kenneth B. Smith; brothers Lorne McNabb and Ron McNabb, and sister Margarette Billings Goodman. Constance was born in St. Vital on December 28, 1928 and was the youngest daughter to William and Katherine McNabb. After putting herself through night school and working part time in her father's United Cigar Store stand in the front entrance of the Paris Building, she started working at Crane The Plumbing Wholesale where she met her husband Ken. In 1953 they married and moved into their first home in North Kildonan. In 1959 they purchased their cottage in Whytewold Beach where she spent all her summers with her children as well as her grandchildren in later years. As their family expanded, they settled in River Heights in 1963. Constance was involved with many clubs, some of her interests were: Chatelaine Toast Mistress, Winnipeg Lionel's, Sewing Circle of Friends, Curling at Deer Lodge Curling Club, Winnipeg Embroidery Guild, Uptown Ladies Bowling League, Unit 7 West Worth United Church, Founding member of The Winnipeg Parents of Twins & Triplets Association, Red Hat Ladies, and Prairie Wrinkles. Donations can be made in Constance's memory to The War Amps Canada, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, Ontario, M1V 5K9. Constance's Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue, with interment to follow at St. John's Anglican Cemetery, 135 Anderson Avenue.
