Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY GEORGE HENDERSON August 22, 1938 - July 6, 2014 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts the family announces the passing of our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend Stanley George Henderson on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the age of 75 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Brenda (Durval Medeiros), Fern (Dianne), Ronald (Lynn), Darlene (Alvin Bear), Melvin (Allana), Lawrence, Chantel, and Michael Boubard, his 20 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren, brother Robert (Heather), sisters-in-law Lillian, Lucy, Marge Courchene, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, special friends Marie Marsden, Florence Boubard, Lillian Spence and from Southeast Personal Care Home, residents especially Gracie, and his many caregivers especially Jimmy and Anna. Stanley was predeceased by parents McRae and Jemina, sons Ira and Randall, brothers Russell, John, Benjamin, Frank and Phillip. Stanley grew up in Sagkeeng First Nation and he lived in many places but always returned home to Sagkeeng where his heart has always been. Stanley was an inspiration to his family, he loved all of his children, grandchildren, one he called "50/50" and hearing about the new births of his many great-grandchildren, as he called one "Old Man from the Mountain", he gave special names out of the love of his heart. He was always asking if everyone was doing all right, if the kiddies were healthy and to tell everyone to love one another. His faith had grown more in later years, he loved attending church services and to hear gospel songs. His passion for singing gospel was evident as he sang gospel songs for community wake services. He always had such a great sense of humour as his family and friends can attest to. He made friends so easily wherever he went with his contagious personality and laughter. He was also a great listener, a wealth of knowledge from many life's experiences, regardless of his health he tried to help out when family or friends were in need. He shared many life stories the good along with the bad, a life balance in which he believed in forgiveness as it was the only way that one can move forward. He loved working outdoors for many years as a Seasonal Fishing Guide/Hunter with Tall Timber Lodge, Halley's Camp and Oak Lake Camp. He also worked as a truck driver with Chapel's Trucking and as a groundsman with Compstock Construction. Being an avid outdoorsman he was always tinkering around in his home, yard and garden; at times he would take his boat out for a day to go fishing. His favourite pastime was watching WWE on TV. Our family would like to thank the staff at Southeast Personal Care Home and Victoria General Hospital especially Angelia for taking care of our dad Stanley Henderson. 1 John 3:16 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning that we should love one another. Wake services will begin 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 to Wednesday, July 9 at Christ's Anglican Church Hall, Sagkeeng First Nation. Funeral services celebrating Stanley's life will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ's Anglican Church with Rev. Nancy Bruyere and Rev. Richard Bruyere officiating. Interment to follow at cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fern Henderson, Robert Henderson, Jr., Allen Henderson, Randall Henderson, Johnathan Coates and Tony Seenie. LeClaire Brothers in care of funeral arrangements: 204-775-2220.

Dad, you were the true meaning of the word. I know you had a lot of tough times but you survived through them and made you the man you were, never taking life lightly as you had your faith which kept you going, I was very pleased the many times you enhanced it for us to live by and always to love another. You have inspired me many times over Dad for being there when you babysat Randall while I was upgrading my skills. Your support was very well received and appreciated. I will miss our wonderful chats Dad and your laugh was unique, and I am glad we can listen to your gospel music, it puts me to sleep at night to drown out my thoughts...thanks Dad for putting me to sleep at nights and I will always cherish your unconditional love you had for us, you were truly amazing with a lot of great memories... I just wish I can turn back time and relive it again with you Dad... until we meet again Dad to please watch over us. I love you Dad forever and ever to eternity. - Posted by: Brenda Medeiros (Daughter) on: Jul 16, 2014

Mr. Henderson is now with his Saviour so I am happy for him but also sad for the family as it is hard to lose a dad & grandpa. He was a wonderful encourager & brought much comfort to many including myself. I always took the opportunity to stop and visit with him just so I can feel the love that he had to share. When he got sick it was really hard to accept but I know that he still had a lot of good things to share. I loved to listen to him sing at the wakes or when he came to my parents' place for house services. My dad (not with us anymore) really enjoyed his visits as well & that was so great to see. Much love & hugs to all of my relatives. Sorry I can't be there at the wakes or funeral. - Posted by: Bernalda R (Friend) on: Jul 09, 2014

There are no words to express the loss of your Father. Never think of his death as an end to life, but merely another path he must take in his journey. Although we want our loved ones to stay with us forever, we need to understand that someday we will see them again. As you grieve for your Father remember that we love you, now and always. - Posted by: Lydia (Friend of the Family) on: Jul 08, 2014
