My sincere condolences to Sue and the family. I was very sad to here of Gavin's passing, although I wasn't someone who spent much time with him I had a great deal of respect and admiration for Gavin. We met through my Dad who thought the world of him. They were friends, 25 years difference yet to Gavin my Dad was one of the boys and he went out of his way to include him in his life... Friday beers at the Pandora, various sporting events and especially his annual infamous Horseshoe tournament "Party". I liked Gavin before even meeting him, just from hearing the many stories and how happy my Dad would be telling them to me. Once we met, he made me feel like we had been friends for years. As I got to know him, I was always greeted with a huge smile, a hug and kind words. His positive energy would fill the room. I wish I would have spent more time with him and Sue. My family was honored to have Gavin speak at Dad's service and I will never forget how kind he was to all of us. May they meet again, share a scotch, a beer, and a few laughs. Rest in Peace Gavin, I will think of you often. XO - Posted by: Lynne MacPhail-Millar (friend) on: Jul 11, 2014

Suz-- We cannot begin to say how sorry we are for your loss. He is your guardian angel ... so we'll see how the Bombers and the Habs do this season! :') Gavin was a great, humble, and humorous man. He was a great friend to both Jeff and I, and a mentor for Jeff. He is gone waaayyyy too soon. He is sadly missed but never forgotten. We will see you Saturday xo - Posted by: Collen and Jeff Fehr (Friend and mate) on: Jul 10, 2014

Gavin was a heck of a guy who left an impression on anyone who met him. He was a proud Car man, and a long term Union man who fought hard for the rights of the members. Gavin loved to party and was an avid Habs fan......none bigger. True to his nature, he was a fighter and upbeat until the end. He will be missed. Condolences to the family from all of his many friends and co-workers at Symington Yard. - Posted by: All the Boys at Symington Yard (Co-Workers) on: Jul 10, 2014
