LEONA HESHKA
Born: Oct 28, 1919
Date of Passing: Jul 04, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONA HESHKA October 28, 1919 - July 4, 2014 We are sad at our Mom's passing, but rejoice that she is now in her heavenly "home". Leona was born near Hyas, SK, the 9th child of 10, to John and Annie Hanchar. When Leona was 18, she married her former teacher, George. Together they happily raised their family and were involved in community life at Danbury and Sturgis, SK, and Winnipeg, MB. George passed away in 1987. Leona is survived by her children Mildred (Bob), Lorne (Joan), Jim, Ken (Gerry) and daughter in law Evelyn; Grandchildren Gerry King (Penny), LaVerne Bugera (Jim), Ryan Heshka (Marinda), Tyler Heshka (Amanda), Trevor Heshka, Brendan Heshka, Amy Clubb Heshka; and great-grandchildren Cameron Bugera, Tristan King, and Savannah King; and many dear nieces and nephews, and friends. Leona was a homemaker in the truest sense, and always strove to provide a loving and lovely home for her family, and to welcome others. She loved nature, gardening, going for long drives, Northern Lights, picnics, quilting, cooking, and growing orchids. She was a long-time member of East Kildonan Baptist Church and truly loved the Lord Jesus. Our heartfelt thanks to those who visited, and for the exceptional care by the staff at Concordia Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 12, at Glen Eden Funeral Chapel, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB, with Pastor Paul Clerc officiating. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, or the Concordia Village Memorial Rose Garden. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Rev 21:4 Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery 338-7111

Very sorry to have heard of your wonderful mother's passing. We've known your mom for many, many years having met through the Kitchens. I feel blessed having known her and having had many visits with her while they lived on Eade Cres. but, unfortunately, didn't keep in touch much after she moved. I feel badly that I didn't attend her funeral but we were away at that time. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Henry & Iris Taraschuk (friends) on: Jul 22, 2014

Our best wishes to you Lorne and Joan. You always spoke so highly of her Lorne, she sounds like a terrific lady. She seems to have passed on her love of gardening to you Lorne, and it was no surprise to see that she had a love of orchids. She may be gone to her reward but she lives on in her wonderful son. All our best, Darryl and Shannon Embury - Posted by: Darryl Embury (friend of family) on: Jul 11, 2014

Leona was a wonderful person who had a great gift of hospitality and a smile for everyone. We remember happy times visiting George and Leona in Florida. Ron remembers her great bread and rolls as the best he's ever had. We pray that your loss will become less painful and happy times will be what you remember. We are away now and sad that we cannot attend her funeral service. We send love and prayers to all the family....Mark & Nancy - Posted by: Nancy Zeilstra (friends) on: Jul 10, 2014
