JOHN RYCHLICKI Peacefully, with family at his side, John Rychlicki, aged 88, passed away on July 10, 2014, at St. Boniface General Hospital. John will be sadly missed by daughter Jeanette Kirby, sister Pearl Lacko (Nick dec.), nephews Larry (Loral) Lacko, Wayne (Ramona) Lacko, brother Mike (Sandra) Rychlicki, niece Cathy Rychlicki (Ken), and nephew Brian (Irene) Rychlicki, special companion Theresa Antoniuk together with numerous great-nephews and friends. John was predeceased by his wife Jean (nee Peters), parents Peter and Teenie Rychlicki, brother Charlie, sister Mary Chikowski and brother Nick. John was born in Silver, MB, on July 12, 1925, and was raised on the family homestead. His early working years were spent in bush camps and road construction. On October 19, 1958 he married Jean and together they raised daughter Jeanette, making a home in Elmwood. John was a skilled machinist working for Co-op Implements until his retirement. John was a kind, honourable and generous man. He was always humble, never one to seek recognition for himself. John was strong in his faith and church was an important part of his life. He was a regular volunteer at Holy Family Nursing Home, bringing residents down to Mass. He was quick with a laugh and was proud to share stories of his Ukrainian pioneer heritage. He was fond of his nieces and nephews and enjoyed attending family functions. John met Theresa Antoniuk 11 years ago. John was an excellent dancer and together they enjoyed many social functions. His garden was his pride and joy and he was always generous in sharing the bounty of his hard labor. We would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Fifth Floor unit E for their compassionate care of John. Pallbearers will be Nick Lacko, Chris Lacko, Evan Lacko, Justin Lacko, Kevin Rychlicki and Jeff Rychlicki.
