POLLY HUPPE (nee HUSIAK) December 12, 1922 - July 8, 2014 Oscar Huppe 1924 - 2011 Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 10:45 a.m. our sweet Polly (Mom) peacefully fell to sleep. Polly was born in Poplarfield, MB (Interlake). Since 1940 she had resided in Winnipeg. Polly married Oscar in Winnipeg and began a long life together. Their great joys included the love and nurturing of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Polly was predeceased by her husband Oscar, her parents Mike and Katherine Husiak, her brothers Roy Husiak, Harry (Rosie), Bill Husiak, her sister Marie Rell (Kelly), and brother-in-law Felix Podaima. She is survived by her daughter Betty (Brian Hughes), her son Robert (Margaret), her grandchildren Katherine (Mike Halfdorson), Greg (Wendy) Hughes, Lisa (Kevin King), Laura of Calgary, and Bonnie. Also, her special, special great-grandchildren, Melissa and Trent; Connor and Brandon; and Markus and Dilea. Surviving her is her sister Anne Podaima, brother Lawrence Husiak (Joanne), and many nieces and nephews who adored Auntie Polly. Mom and Dad loved to spend summers at their Winnipeg Beach cottage (which they built). Mom was a strong, determined woman who faced life's challenges with dignity, humour and humility. Mom we will never forget all that you have taught us. God Bless You. You will always be remembered. Polly was a very humble person. She did not like public recognition and she specifically told us many, many times "When I die and you are writing up my obituary DO NOT write she made the best perogies and holobchi", but Polly you did make the best perogies and holobchi - Thank you! Also, we may as well mention that you were famous for whipping up large batches of cookies, brownies and tortes on a regular basis like it was no big deal. Polly was very talented and skilled and had a rewarding career as a hostess in the food catering capacity or various functions. For the last years before retiring she worked at Canadian Wheat Board Cafeteria as a baker. "My Beautiful Sister" Did you ever know that you're my hero and you were everything, everything I would like to be? You were the wind beneath my wings. Thank you, Thank you, God for you." Sis Anne Thanks to the staff at Convalescent Home. Words cannot express our gratitude. You worked extremely hard to ensure her comfort during a difficult time. As per Polly's wishes, a private funeral service was held. Pallbearers were nephews Clark and Blake Podaima, grandsons Mike Halfdorson, Greg Hughes, Kevin King and family friend Tullio Ostroman.
