Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST FEDARAS (EVARISTAS FEDARAVICIUS) It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our father and grandfather on July 16, 2014. Ernest is survived by his two children, daughter Violeta (Barry), son Edward and granddaughter Lisa (Randy), sister-in-law Bunny Grabys and close cousin Onute Kaselis. Ernest was predeceased by Eugenia, his wife of 43 years; also by his special friend Alexandra Wujec, his parents Vaitiekus and Magdelena, sibling Antanas, father-in-law Valentinas, mother-in-law Monika and brother-in-law Juozas Grabys. Ernest also has other relatives in Edmonton, Lithuania, South America and United States. He was blessed with many friends in Canada, Lithuania and the United States. Ernest was born in a rural farming community in Trilaukis, Lithuania in 1925. Ernest and his parents escaped into West Germany in 1944 in order to evade the advancing Russian army. Ernest's parents remained in Germany, while Ernest immigrated to Canada in 1949, where he met the love of his life and married Eugenia in 1950. Ernest's first job in Canada was working on a farm in southern Manitoba. He then worked for a coal company, Orange Crush and Standard Aero in Winnipeg. His final job was with Canada Post as a mail sorter and main counter clerk started in 1958. He particularily enjoyed working in the philatelic service section in his last years, until his retirement on March 30, 1987. Ernest loved his family greatly and never stopped helping us every way he could. He was always on the go, whether it was checking out the snake pits in rural Manitoba, travelling to a ski resort in winter or travelling to Montreal a year after 1967 Expo. He was an active member of the St. Casimir's Lithuanian parish, and in the Canadian Lithuanian Community reporting Winnipeg Lithuanian activities for many years to the Lithuanian newspaper in Toronto Teviskes Ziburiai. In 1980, he prepared and produced an illustrated album about St. Casimir's Lithuanian church. In 1990, he compiled a 300 page book about Lithuanians in Manitoba, which he updated until his death. While Ernest was retired, he enjoyed travelling, bicycling, skiing and reading books. Ernest and his family are very appreciative and thankful for all the staff on 3rd floor North of Grace Hospital for their kindness, care and support during his stay in hospital. Funeral service with interment and reception to follow will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Friday, July 25, 2014 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
