PATRICIA ODUT (HALLMUTH)
Born: Mar 19, 1953
Date of Passing: Jul 15, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA ODUT (nee HALLMUTH) March 19, 1953 - July 15, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pat at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 61. Pat will be lovingly remembered by her sister Barb Munsters (Arnold), her brother Bruce Hallmuth (Joanne) and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Pat was predeceased by her mother Millie Hallmuth, her father George Hallmuth, her husband Zennon Odut and her niece Kim Munsters. Pat was born to George and Millie Hallmuth on March 19, 1953 at the height of the Polio epidemic. At only three months of age, Pat was placed in an "iron lung" (a ventilator that helped her to breathe). Pat spent a brief time in Princess Elizabeth Hospital, until she was transferred to the Shriner's hospital, which would be her home for the next 12 years. The time and dedication of her Mother, Millie Hallmuth, and her Grandma Sterkell were the boost that Pat needed to get her through this difficult time. Pat did not have an "I can't do it" in her vocabulary. When she was finally released from the hospital, Pat attended Jefferson Junior High, until her physical disability no longer allowed it. At the age of 20, Pat moved to 1010 Sinclair, where she made many friends, with similar life challenges. Here she met the Love of her life, Zennon and they were married on July 9 1976. Pat and Zennon shared many passions, including their love of travel and took a very memorable trip to Hawaii, which Pat reminisced about often. Pat and Zennon were married 28 years when Zennon passed away in 2004. Pat also loved animals and had two very faithful companions over the years, first Pookie and then Pebbles. In recent years, Pat and Pebbles were dedicated supporters of Paws in Motion. Pat faithfully followed "The Lutheran Hour" every Sunday from home as she was unable to attend church. Pat also volunteered in the community, reaching out to others with similar disabilities, and was annually recognized at a dinner sponsored by the Retired Winnipeg Police Association. It was through love, hard work, determination, and the will of the Good Lord, that Pat was able to enjoy as many years with us as she did. Rest in peace Pat, your chores are done and your strength has been passed to the next generation. The family would like to thank Dr. David Ross and the many workers who spent countless hours helping Pat over the years. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, July 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). Shalom Pat. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Pat. Pat attended my aquacise class for many years until her health declined. One of my best memories of Pat (and there are many) was bringing my scuba gear into the pool and allowing her the freedom of a shallow dive, where she was able to go underwater and be as free as a bird. This was done with the permission of her Dr. She was just ecstatic of how wonderful it felt. Pat and Zennon also came on our bus trips to Saskatchewan to the SPA and the casino and we had many a good times together. I am so sorry that I missed the funeral service and I share your sorry with the family. - Posted by: Bonnie Hopps (friend) on: Jul 25, 2014

Bruce, Barb and families: there is never an easy way to say goodbye and watch a love one leave this earth. But praise be to God for Pat and her family's faith. It is faith that I pray gives you comfort, strength and peace. She is with her heavenly Father. A far better place than we can imagine. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time. May God turn your mourning into dancing. Hugs to you all. - Posted by: Lori Rahn () on: Jul 20, 2014
