Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIONA GASKIN Lovely Iona Ianthe Gaskin, born May 1, 1914 on the island of Barbados in the West Indies, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with her daughter by her side. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She was predeceased by infant sons David, Keith, daughter Joan, siblings Eudaline and George, and parents Louise and Cecil. Sons Granville, Carl, Harrell, Trevor and daughter Heather, survive her. She was grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to several residing in Canada and Barbados. She immigrated to Canada in May 1963 and was a devoted Christian of Holy Trinity Church. She also was an honorary member of the Barbados Association of Winnipeg. Nanny / Mama, we love you lots and you will be in our hearts forever. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Deer Lodge T4 team as well as the homecare workers that assisted her over the years. Viewing will be held July 25, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. and July 26, 2014, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 256 Smith St. with service at 11:00 a.m., following which a reception will be held in the church hall. Cremation will take place at a later time with ashes returned to Barbados. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Church.
