Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JAN) MEIJER Peacefully on July 17, 2014, Dad passed away at Concordia Hospital, with his family and good friend Tina by his side, at the age of 86. Jan was predeceased by his wife Janje, one brother and three sisters. He is survived by two sons Caesar and Gerry, two daughters-in-law Lorraine and Cory, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Born in Lonneker, Holland, married in 1953, came to Canada in 1953, where they settled in Homewood, Manitoba to be with his brother Lefert and sister-in-law Marje in Carman, Manitoba. Later moving to Winnipeg, where life went on. Special thanks to his good friends who were always there for him, Tina and Tony, and Monica and staff at Concordia Place for the great care you gave to Dad. He always thought of you as family. Memorial Service to be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Avenue. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

Ik kende ome Jan toen ik een jaar of vijf was. Tante Jantje en ome Jan stonden op het punt om naar Canada te emigreren. Ik weet nog dat ome Jan een aquarium in de woonkamer had en volgens mij was hij melkboer. Hij overtuigde mijn ouders ook om naar Canada te gaan (Piet en Annie Alberts) We hadden de keuringen al gehad maar toch ging het op het laatst niet door. Mijn moeder wilde het niet. Ik ben meegeweest naar de boot waarmee ze vertrokken. Het was de "seven Seas". Oom en tante heb ik een aantal keren ontmoet tijdens hun bezoek naar Nederland. O.a. bij mijn ouders in Emmen en bij mij thuis in Enschede, Toen was Jan bij de bewaking. Dus bijne een collega van mij, omdat ik politieman was. Sending prayers your way with many Wonderful Memmories of John the kindest Man I have ever met. John really inspired me and was of such Great importance I got to care for John and have lots of Laughs n fun with him. We always had some great Laughs and stories that John had told me and im blessed to have knowm John and cared for him. I will miss him very Dearly and Hanging out with him on our Crib days. He truly is missed by Us All at Concordia Place. May you rest in Peace my Wonderful John.
