JOHN EDWIN NEUFELD On July 19, 2014 John Edwin Neufeld, at the age of 101 years, passed away peacefully at his family home. Leaving to cherish his memory are daughters Lynne Sauve and Sharon Burden, and grandchildren Sherry, David, Brian and Heather. John was predeceased in 1991 by his loving wife Phyllis (nee Croft) after more than 50 years of marriage. John was born in Winkler, Manitoba to his parents Abraham and Margaret (nee Loepky) where he grew up with his three brothers and two sisters. As a young man, John worked alongside his father in the family harness shop until the family relocated to Winnipeg in 1941. John was a spray painter and then paint foreman at Motor Coach Industries where, after 35 years, he retired in 1978 at 65. John had an active and full life. He was a member of the Imperial Veterans. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 23. He was a life member and volunteer of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Fort Garry Unit No. 60 and Unit No. 1. John enjoyed men's curling and was proud of his many badges and trophies. John loved his weekly rummy games with his daughters and cribbage with his good friends Dennis and Roger. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephenson and staff at Assiniboine Clinic, Winnipeg Home Care and St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life is to be held on Sunday, July 27 from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m. at Unit No. 1 Army, Navy and Air Force, 300-1395 Ellice Avenue (across from Walmart at Empress Street.).   • Uncle John was my mother's brother. I have such fond memories of putting them on the plane and sending them off to visit their brother Clarence. How they loved those trips to Vancouver. He loved to play cards and go to Joey's Fish on Tuesday where he could have all you can eat meal. It was a pleasure to make him and Sharon Chicken Soup.
