Born: Aug 26, 1923
Date of Passing: Jul 20, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNE MCGRATH PATERSON August 26, 1923 - July 20, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Lorne Paterson just a month shy of his 91st birthday. Lorne is survived by his wife Thelma, sons Kevin (Cathy) and Brian, daughter Nancy (Norman) Dyck as well as grandchildren Sara (Dave) Girardin, Carolyn (Matt), Laura (Jean-Pierre) Labossiere, Cameron (Kathrin), Evan (Kate) and Dale (Brad), great-grandchildren Felix and Madeleine and brother-in-law Les Peterson. Lorne was predeceased by his parents Charles and Carrie and his sister Doris and brothers Fred, Bert, Thomas and Jim. Dad was born in Edrans, MB and lived there until he joined the 12th Manitoba Dragoons in 1941. Dad served overseas during The Second World War, but the only stories he told were about the mischief they got up to over there. When Dad left the military, he moved to Winnipeg and started working in the grain industry and settled in at N.M. Paterson and Sons where he retired as vice-president of the grain division. It was during this time that he met Thelma and they married in 1947 and moved to Charleswood and built the house that is still home. Dad retired in 1982 to live a life of leisure. Declining health in recent years limited his mobility, but he still enjoyed getting outside, weather permitting and watching sports on TV. In keeping with Dad's wishes, there will not be a service and a family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3, or to a charity of your choice.
