Sandee leaves to cherish her memory, her husband John and dog companion Ty, as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Otto and Margaret "Peg" Skardal. A celebration of Sandee's life was held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Baldur School Auditorium with Sharon Hamilton officiating. It was so appropriate to have Sandee's service at the School, as so much of her life was spent teaching in School classrooms. A Family Interment took place at the Baldur Cemetery, followed by a Community Reception at the Baldur Recreation Centre. The reception concluded with Cousin Parker's Recreation Centre "ride through" on his black Harley Davidson. Sandee would have approved. Sandee was born on September 13, 1947 at Baldur MB. As an only child, Sandee enjoyed special attention from her parents, her three close Aunts, Florence, Dora, and Jessie Fowler, and special Uncle Bill Fowler. Along with her parents, the three Aunts and Uncle Bill helped to shape and mold her into the special person she was. Sandee enjoyed a long, happy and productive Teaching Career spanning from 1971 to 2014. Sandee's Schools included: Montessori School in Winnipeg Happy Thought School in East Selkirk Little Grand Rapids First Nation Riverside School, Thompson Juniper School, Thompson Westwood School, Thompson Indian Springs School, Swan Lake First Nation Bruxelles School, Bruxelles Baldur Elementary School, Baldur Sandee also taught at the Baldur Nursery School, and the Tiny Tots Daycare at Swan Lake First Nation. Sandee's Teaching Career ended the day she was admitted to the Glenboro Health Centre. She continued right up to the end. John always admired Sandee's passion for her Teaching. Many students and parents benefitted from her teaching and friendship. She was truly a credit to her profession and an asset to all the Communities she resided in over the years. Sandee and John married on July 28, 1973 and shortly there after moved to Thompson, MB where they worked and enjoyed the Northern experience for 27 years. In 2001 they relocated to Baldur, MB where Sandee continued in her teaching career. Sandee was a lifelong learner and through correspondence and attendance at Brandon University she received her Bachelor of Education in 1988. Sandee taught in the primary grades and especially enjoyed her kindergarten classes. She was devoted and dedicated with a true love of children. Sandee believed that "teaching is a journey in to the mind through the heart." Sandee was proud of her Icelandic Heritage and proved to be a determined and strong willed lady. She enjoyed making the traditional Icelandic dishes and was very proud of her venna tarta. Sandra was outgoing and enjoyed her Community life, and was active in volunteering. She was a member of the Baldur United Church, United Women's Group, and the Baldur Red Hats group. She loved the Red Hats outings and certainly enjoyed shopping for and modelling her many Red Hat styles. John and Sandee had a love of dogs and from 1982 to present shared their home with their Viszla's, Tamas, Tobin, Tehk, and Ty. John and Sandee enjoyed showing their Viszlas at dog shows, and Tobin received his Championship from the Canadian Kennel Club. Sandee enjoyed her many travels and trips in the mustang convertible but house and home was very important to her, and she enjoyed being at home.
