CONSTANCE (CONNIE) KOSHELANYK (nee HARGRAVE) July 1, 1935 - July 20, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Koshelanyk. Connie passed away peacefully, on Sunday, July 20, 2014, after a long illness. Left to cherish Connie's memory are her husband Sidney; sons Tom (Sandi) and Gord (Darcie); daughter-in-law Donna; grandchildren Kristen (Brent), Stacy, Bryan; great-grandson Damon; and brother David (Doreen). She was predeceased by her parents Edwin (Ted) and Tillie Hargrave; sons Brian and William; brothers Forrest, Roy and Cullen; and sister Phyllis. Connie was born in Winnipeg, where she attended Isaac Brock and Gordon Bell schools. She married Sidney Koshelanyk on April 23, 1955 and became a devoted wife and mother. She was a stay at home mom and raised her four sons. In 1975 she began working at the Canadian Red Cross, where she worked until 1993. In her semi-retirement she kept herself busy with odd jobs such as babysitting and housekeeping. Connie was very devoted to her family and loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. Nothing perked her up more than a visit from her "little ones". Please join family and friends for a Celebration of Connie's Life on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue. Special thanks to Dr. Salem of Vista Medical Centre, and to the staff of Victoria General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Connie's memory to Cancer Care Manitoba or the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 1020 Main Street, 204-586-8668, in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Connie was a wonderful, kind, caring friend with a beautiful heart. We loved her very much and we miss her. I enjoyed spending countless afternoons together, talking for hours and hearing stories and learning from Connie's experiences of raising four boys and I draw from her wisdom often. Connie was a very important part of our world at a very special time. From the bottom of my heart, Connie ... thank you. I wish I could spend one more afternoon together and I'd tell you how much you meant to myself and Jesse. And, although Brady & Ryan were younger, you were special to them too. You'll always have a special spot in our hearts, Grandma Connie. "Sometimes memories sneak out of my eyes and roll down my cheeks" I know you've been reunited with Brian and Willie and Sid's joined you too. I have great memories of you all. Heaven's got a beautiful Angel in you. With love, Laurie, Jesse, Brady & Ryan xo - Posted by: Laurie O'Neill and Jesse, Brady & Ryan McArdle (Family Friend) on: Apr 07, 2015

Connie was a lovely, gracious and generous lady. My husband and I met Sid and Connie shortly after we moved next door to them 17 years ago. There was an immediate connection. You just know when you are meeting good people. We got lucky that day. Both Sid and Connie made our life so much easier in the last few years. When away, Connie looked after our house, the mail and most importantly our cat, Kee-tah (the Potz). She made sure everything was honky dory while we were away in the summer and in the winter which included looking after our "abandoned" cat. Not an easy job but she did it joyfully. While over coffee one day she said, "I'd like to try to look after Kee-tah in our house." So that winter Connie and Sid did just that. And the cat took to Connie (not so much Sid) and did not come home when we came home. In fact, the cat wouldn't even give me the time of day. That was Connie. She and I had many wonderful discussions over coffee. She confided in me that she had had breast cancer. She talked about all her children, grandchildren and great grand kids. She was soooooo sweet. My grandkids know her as Mrs. Connie, the cookie lady, who every time the grand kids visited us, came over with a cookie or five for them. You will be missed Connie. You are probably the nicest, most generous person I have ever met. Love you. Pat - Posted by: Pat Bruch (Friend) on: Jul 26, 2014
