ROBERT ISAAC FERNANDO
Born: Jun 12, 1933
Date of Passing: Jul 21, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT ISAAC FERNANDO Sunrise: June 12, 1933 - Sunset: July 21, 2014 Robert Isaac Fernando was born on June 12, 1933, in Trinidad, W.I. to parents Manulita and Bernard Albert Fernando. He departed this Earth on July 21, 2014. He leaves behind daughters: Cheryl Fernando and Barbara Simmons and sons: Anthony and Robert Jr. He also had eight grandchildren: Jashon Fernando, Javohn Fernando, Jimmel Simmons, Vaughn Simmons, Spencer Fernando, Akil Fernando, Akido Fernando, and Afeshia Fernando. Great-grandchildren: Vaughn Simmons Jr., Kalan Simmons, and Jimmelliah Simmons. Robert came from a big family, and he set out early to leave his mark on this world. He was a very proud man who loved his family more than anything that life had to offer him. For Robert the act of living was about being the best provider that he could be. His family would never want for anything as long as he was around, and his love for them showed through his actions over the years. He touched the lives of many with his unique sense of humor, and his unprecedented, witty nature. Robert Fernando fought long and hard to get what he wanted out of life, but the only thing that he ever really needed was the love and respect of his family... for his efforts to be appreciated. In the end, he knew that all of his efforts had not been in vain. You are and forever will be appreciated Dad. May you rest in peace... Now that I close my eyes for the last time, I no longer see the light of day... But I will envision a bright future that has only just begun. One journey ends only for the sake of starting another, and I do not shed a tear at the end. Tears are not necessary; for I am happy... as my next journey begins! Cremation has taken place and Robert will be buried in Trinidad at a later date. The family will be holding a celebration of life at the Caribbean Community Cultural Centre, 1100 Fife Street, Winnipeg on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All family and friends are invited to drop in. My condolences and prayers from our Family to your Family Cherill. I remember when you and I met, how you invited me and my children to attend Church with you. Our friendship took off from that point. Our children were inseparable. I think we even had a blossoming romance happening between our kids. It was truly sweet and innocent. We'd be mad but always had a great laugh about it. The first time I had the pleasure of meeting Robert was during a sleep-over. He loved the kids and he loved when I would drop the kids off or pick them up. Truly a kind and generous Man. He'd even drive over to my house just to see if the kids were coming over and sometimes we would talk forever on the phone. Mostly to make plans and then just to chat about life in general. Now that "forever" is gone and only time can heal. My heart cries for you Cherill, if I, a simple friend can have such emotions for a Man that I only knew briefly, it's hard to comprehend what you and your Family are feeling. We know that he liked the color of gold and with that being said, I hope that every time the Sun sets and rises, you look into the horizon and know that a piece of your Father is beaming magnificently upon you. Rest in Peace Robert - Posted by: Patricia (Friend of the Family) on: Aug 01, 2014

Being the eldest girl among all of my siblings, I will always remember Robert as a very nice brother. We grew up a very loving, Godly family together. He was the second among 7 siblings: Hubert, Albert Jr., Roger, Ivory, Roseanne, Janet, Fernando and myself. May you rest in peace with The Lord! - Posted by: Flanders Phillips (Sister) on: Jul 31, 2014

I have known Robert since I was 6 or 7 years old, Cheryl and I became friends quickly after they moved next door and was always playing there. He would always take me along with Cheryl through many adventures, if it was grocery shopping or to Glady's house where we would play for hours in her salon. Robert was a very living and caring man, he will be missed. - Posted by: Heather Miller (Neighbour and friend) on: Jul 27, 2014
