Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEOPOLD (POLDI) WALTER 1922 - 2014 With sadness it is announced that Leopold passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Concordia Hospital. Leopold will be remembered by his close friends, family and extended friends at Concordia Village. He was predeceased by his wife, Maria, in 2011. Leopold was a long time member of the German Society of Winnipeg, playing his clarinet in the Brass Band. He also enjoyed participating in the German Pavilion at Folkorama. Leopold served in the German Air Force and after had a long career as a tool maker/machinist, a few years with a brewery and concluded his working career at Eaton's. During his married life he enjoyed travelling to the Yukon, British Columbia and Alaska in their motorhome and many summers at Camp Neustadt on Lake Winnipeg. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB. He served the German Society of Winnipeg and the band well. He went above and beyond to make sure the band did well, which it did. It was an honour to know Poldi and many who knew him would agree to that. He helped many people in what was asked and did his best for his friends. He will be missed in this life and now he has gone before us and with the Faith it is only Auf wiedersehen. Es War Einmal und jetz es ist Auf wiedersehen.
